My post wasn't a rant about Engerlund, it was asking who the f*** Macedonia were and what mega stars played for them if they were good enough to contain The Queens Eleven?

That would be Montenegro then...

A team who haven't lost yet or conceded a goal who came to an away fixture with the express intent of having 8 men in their own half at all times to ensure a draw...which they got.

Funny, but when Spurs did this at Chelsea they were 'tactical geniuses'.

Whilst this is very hard to break down at club level when you've got 11 players very used to playing with each other, it's nigh on impossible at international level if they organise well.

Need I remind everyone of Switzerland doing exactly this to Spain in the World Cup and beating them?

England were poor for large parts of the game but if that lot are genuinely the best 11 players we have then we're screwed.

Fortunately, they're not so we should be fine.

Until we get to the finals...

Unfortunately, it's all about money - surprise, surprise. International prestige takes second/third place.

If they restricted the number of non-English players in English clubs to (say) 2 per game then the new talent might come through. Bit of a pipe dream I'm afraid :( :( :(

You would get support from the French for this. They want to be able to prevent/restrict their players from joining foreign clubs - unless of course they have no prospect of selection for the national team, ie the old and the useless.

Cant say that I care really, Club over country any day of the week.

And it's that attitude that excludes you from passing judgement on England I'm afraid.

Anyone who would put club success ahead of International success just doesn't get the right to moan about England.

As you say, you don't care. So don't care properly and keep quiet about it, there's a good lad.

England do not have enough intelligent footballers to win a major tournament at present. Further, they are playing very poorly for a manager that seems to have lost control of the situation.

Poor England....

And fantastic to see the shortbread munching contingent ripping the "pish" out of our pathetic national team. Makes great reading..

Or at least it would were it not for the somewhat ironic position that you are all aiming your barbs from. Namely that Scotland are the footballing equivalent of a yeast culture growing on a dog turd.

Snelly, I am guessing that everyone on TalkSport, 5Live and all the editors of the english newspapers are Scottish because they have all fired into the England performance.

The Sun lead with 'The Fool Monty'

The English are more critical than us over the border.

Snelly, is this really called for?
We know Scottish football is crap but give the boys in blue a little credit for making a game of it against the World and European champs.
There are plenty Scots on this forum as golf is more accesible to all and not just the rich in Scotland. Whilst some banter is ok by me you're post is pretty vitriolic and mildly offensive which imo is uncalled for.
None of the home nations did very well on Tuesday but it wasn't that bad either, Wales excluded maybe.
The tone doesn't need to get offensive.

Oh so I'm not allowed an opinion because I value my club over England then?

Human nature dictates that we are a tribal, territorial species, therefore I value my tribe over the country to which it is associated.

Mind you with a trophy cabinet and glittering history like that of the barcodes its no wonder you dont value your club as much as I value mine.

No, because you said you don't care. If you don't care, you don't have an opinion. Squid pro dough.

Epic fail. Your tribe is local in your argument. Are Spuds full of TCR boys - or more accurately in your case - Medway boys? No. So they aren't a local tribe. They are a local franchise populated by immigrants. Your country, on the other hand, is your country and the tribe to which you belong and therefore the representatives of your country i.e. England are your tribal fellows of whom you should think more than your collection of individuals.

If you don't like your tribe, go find another one to join instead.

Presumably an attempt at humour but just comes across as gross arrogance, especially from a Spuds fan (as if they are world-beaters :D).

Some of us don't equate value with material success but don't you dare try and place an arbitrary subjective value on how much I 'value' my club compared to you.

I don't agree that it is vitriolic but if it offends anyone then I am genuinely sorry. It was intended as banter for sure.

It is an analogy that basically says Scotland are dreadful at football. An analogy shouldn't offend so much, especially when true.

That said, to reiterate, I am sorry if I caused offence.

Cor blimey, England play badly and the forum's at war!

Right, here goes.....

I was a football fan - I used to love the game. I grew up watching football players give their all. I remember seeing Brown of Argentina in the 86 world cup final complete the game with a broken arm. I loved him for that. I'd never seen him play before and I never saw him play again but I loved him for his pure determination to complete a game that he'd obviously wanted to play in forever.

Fast forward 24 years and where are we? According to the press, we're a team of world beaters. We're a team who should walk every tournament we enter. We're in the middle of the golden generation - apparently.

What do I see?

I see football in a huge mess. I see an England team that doesn't care. I've seen John Terry blubbing like a baby when Chelsea don't win something and yet, when England get embarrassingly walloped by Germany he simply walks off. OK, we know which means more to you then.

I see the domestic teams in complete financial turmoil!

I've fallen out of love with football. The England team don't care. They have no shame. They lose and appear not to care.
The Manager has no plan B. He has Crouch on - they play the long ball. He takes Crouch off because the long ball isn't working and replaces him with Davies - and continues with the long ball! I've never played the game at a high level but even I know that you'll not win international games with the long ball tactic.
England need to win me back as a fan. Their performances of late have been woeful - I'll not be watching them again in a hurry.
I've also lost interest in the Premier League. Why? I can't stand the diving! Drogba - 6' 3" isn't he? Pure muscle. Exquisite balance. Goes down faster than Abbey Titmus! Why? It's called cheating and I've had enough. They act as if they've been shot - rolling around in pure agony and then they get up, all cured and that.

I admire the Scots team. They know that their team isn't the strongest but they support them anyway which is how it should be. We're lead to believe that our team are superheroes and that we're world beaters. We're far from it. And it's time the media realised it.

As an Eagles fan you must be use to heartbreak and misery anyway so watching England should be a relief :D :D ;) ;)

That's why I used to like watching England - it was my only chance of winning something.

Now, they've even taken that away from me.....

Up until the Europa League you even had the glory of relatively recent final to look back on. Even when we get their we still can't win anything. Would be good to see Palace back in the premiership though
