Mobile phone contracts- getting out

So my service provider keeps spamming me with text messages, i have reported this to them 5 times. can i somehow get out of my contract with them and move to another provider? they have annoyed me that much! surely by spamming me they must be breaking some law or terms of my contract? i need my ammunition before i call them...

Not sure that you have many options. You could complain that they are breaking the Data Protection act by 'spamming' you as long as you have opted out of marketing. How long did you sign up for?

I am 12 months in to a 24 month contract, they have been poor and i want out for other reasons to this, however this seems like a viable one!! (rather than me paying £300 to get out!)

I'll be honest, doesn't sound that viable and doubt they will entertain the idea.

Best to point out to them you have opted out of marketing (assuming you have) and that by continuing to spam you they are breaking data protection laws.

well i have submitted my complaint in writing (email) and i have been assured it wont happen again..... (we shall see) but i have told them if it does, i will be terminating my contract based on DP laws as per happyH above.

As for the provider.. Hmmm, lets just say they own a big white elephant (read arena) in London.... No idea why i went with them, i live under 2 miles from Vodafone GLOBAL HQ!! and i cant get 3g in my house with who i am with! Sure hope i would with Voda!

That "white elephant" seems to be doing alright for them as a concert venue and it certainly ain't the worst one in London.

True, now that they own it as a private commercial business and the govt/city have zero input. was more a dig at the original "dome"

If you end up gli g down this route where does that leave your iPhone? Guess they'll be wanting it back as you haven't paid for it until you reach end of 24month contract.

i paid for my iphone when i started the contract. (ok some of it may still be subsidized by my monthly bill, but that's not my problem) anyway, lets see what happens!
