Just watching the BMW on Sky and they played a feature on the pro's thoughts on the 18th. What a load of moaners I could not believe what I was hearing. The main complaint being that they no longer have an easy shot into the green for 2. Well guy's I'm really sorry but even though you are the best at what you do you do not have the automatic right to hit every par 5 in 2. The green is there and can be hit in 2 if you play a good tee shot, if not then take your medicine and play on in 3 like every one else. Whingers.

Did you not think that Chris Wood had a point that it was now a 90 yard par 3? Westwood saying that if there's too much risk and not enough reward they'll all play it safe. If that happens it'll make for dull viewing as less if them will have a go. Whingers they may be but conservative golf is dull viewing and if that's the result we'll be the ones who miss out.

I think drawboys right, Ernie was the best example, 330 yd 3 wood and then a 7 iron into the green, hit it in 2, its do-able, but only if they play the best golf they can, which i think for pros thats what its all about, is it not??????

I think its a good thing as Par 5s are meant to be hard to reach in 2 unless you can hit 2 of your Sunday bests. The players at the top are there because they are playing the course the way it was designed to. The aggressive players can always change the way they play for 1 week as thats what theyre paid to do

There was an interesting interview with the Wentworth chairman who was basically saying it was his decision and not Els to go with the design for 18 and that on reflection he felt it might not have been the right one. Expect big changes over the winter on the hole

I tend to agree with the “it’s not supposed to be easy” train of thought. The fact that a number of players have made it in 2 means that it is doable it just needs, as others have said, 2 good shots not just 1 good drive.

I think views might change come Sunday if the leaderboard is tight and successfully going for it in 2 could change a player position considerably. My very naïve view is that’s what risk reward is about.
IMH if very inexperinced O.

I think thats what the Pro's are saying, there isnt much reward as the green is too high to land the ball on, so it ends in all risk. I do accept the exception of one eagle so far on the 18th.
