Mixing Stableford with Matchplay

In answer to the OP, years of practice.

At my old club, on a saturday morning, we would play in 4 balls, in what ever qualifying comp was on. Simultaneously, we had a stableford swindle going between about 20 of us, and also a 4BBB matchplay in your own group. Totally against the rules of golf, but good fun anyway. As a result, I don't find it that difficult.
As there was a qualifying comp every weekend, saturday and sunday, if you didn't do this, you were never really having fun with your mates, just grinding out scores every game. There is a time for this, but not every game.

But then I am also not a very good golfer, and maybe that makes a difference.

The other thing is, you need to attack your putts more anyway, match play or stroke play.

Prolly shouldn't have bought those Srixons, they need a bit of hitting compared to the cr+p I've been using lately.

They seemed ok to me, and I have been using Pinnacles.

That said, I have a longer putter. It makes a difference. Not as accurate, but it gets to the hole. You can be deadly accurate with a short putter, but short is still short.

And you'll get back ache.
