Vote was 86-1 with the one saying that she voted the wrong way by mistake.

I like the occasional tipple, such as the inlaws sunday morning Bloody Caesar (if your not Canadian you probably would not understand) and the odd beer with a meal. I doubt it will affect any sensible drinker at all.

People who drink and smoke, eat full fat food, are on a suicide mission. Fantastic. Pension crisis solved at a stroke. These people are acting selflessly, in an almost heroic manner, and should be heavily subsidised. They are saving the tax payers money.

It's the non drinking, non smoking, healthy eating, jogging, gym going leaches that need taxing.

Most of the 1980's+ generation do not seem capable of looking after thier own health and the health of thier children. The the Government has to do something to stop them killing themselves.

Seatbelts, speed limits, no smoking rules. They were all saftey issues.

In which case I would happilly support a unhealthy food tax.

Politicians love issues like this, it makes them look as if they're trying to do something to resolve a problem while raising more tax revenue from the 99 % of the population who behave responsibly.

I won't hold my breath waiting for any improvement.

I agree to some extent, but, apart from smoking, the laws are quite fair in respect of speeding etc, in that we all accept the need for legislation in respect of motoring and no one is harmed by capping speed limits or wearing seatbelts. By pricing alcohol minimum levels the majority who are responsible drinkers are unfairly penalised. In the case of smoking, I dont personally believe that there is such a thing as a responsible smoker and that they should be banned completely!

I like a pint and a good whisky.
This bill will probably cost me and extra £1 a week.
The regular white cider, buckie, and 3 for £10 wine drinkers will probably have to pay out another £20+ a week.

As a whisky drinker it will mean a bottle of Grouse will go up £1 whilst a bottle of single malt will not increace in price [so they say!!]
