Mine.

Molinari, Rose and Casey.

Molinari to team up with his brother, Rose as a player in great form and Casey just because I really rate Casey.

I think he has to pick Molinari - there are genuine reasons to pick him, and it backs up his request/demand for the people that wanted a wildcard to play in the event. Otherwise his management/captaincy authority is already reduced.

Then I'd pick Casey, coz he's highest in the world rankings, and playing well.

Then personally I'd go with Donald, but I think Monty wants Harrington.

Although Rose is doing his best to stick a spanner in teh works. I don't think it's a mistake to choose him, either.

PS have I got it right ? Eduardo is higher up the world rankings than Francesco ?

I did notice Monty tried to distance himself from his comments earlier in the year about giving priority to players who commit to qualifying for the Ryder Cup. He's now saying he needs to pick the best players for the job.

Also given his moan about Faldo ignoring players from Gleneagles two years ago I believe at least one player will be selected from the field at Gleneagles.

For me, I've always maintained Molinari should be given the nod. Him and his brother have proven that they will be a class act in both fourball and foursome games.

I would pick Rose and Harrington as well.

Opening day my first groupings would be :-

McDowall & McIlroy
Poulter & Rose
Harrington & Kaymer
Molinari & Molinari

4 points on the board, jobs a good un!!!

Think you're right - Edoardo's knocking on the door of the top 20.
I, too, think Molinari must get picked. The Brothers are a proven pair and he's higher up in the world rankings than Rose. If he wins today and doesn't get picked what message will that send out? You want form players.

To be honest, any 3 from the main 4 candidates and we'll still have a strong team.

Molinary has to go to celtic I think, that would give two super pairing in mcilroy mcdowell and the molinary brothers.
I would take Casey also as he is proven in match play and a great player.
Not sure who I would go with for the final pick, guess it depends who wins today........

If he doesn't pick Rose it's a purely nose cutting to spite face decision. For me the only decision is Harrington, Casey or Donald.

I think it's a sham if Molinari doesn't get picked.
Would love hear Monty's excuse if Eddie goes on and wins today and doesn't get picked.

Why would it be a sham?? :D

If he doesn't pick him then that is entirely up to him....if say he picks Casey in front of him he has done because he is a higher ranked player and a man with valuble Ryder Cup experience.

I don't really get all this clamming for him to be picked to play with his Brother....where is the foundation in it?They won the World Cup together,so what?A Ryder Cup is a totally new ball game to glorified knock about that is the World Cup.

For me, Monty needs to go with experience not even more rookies with his 3 picks.

I'd pick Rose, Molinari and Casey.

Imagine if Rose went on to win the FedEx cup and wasn't on the team!

Harrington is out of sorts and Donald is too boring.

On current form I couldn't outdrive Smiffy Magoo.

Totally lost the will to live on Friday whilst playing in the Worthing Open. Seeing Leftie looking like a drowned rat kept me going :)... That man is made of IRON!

The next 5 players curerently not qualified on the World rankings are... 9.Casey 10.Donald 18.Harrington 21.E. Molinari & 22.Rose

Casey's a no brainer in most peoples minds, because of his matchplay record, world rankings, season's form & RC experience. Ditto Luke Donald.
Harrington? Sure he's got experience, but I think we can do without his RC experience if it means only getting 1 pt from his last two appearances. His general matchplay history is the same as his current form; Average to poor.

Molinari is the man in form, fulfilled the stipulations laid down by Monty earlier this year and has a ready made partner already in the team. A man who he partnered to win a "glorified knockabout" against the No7 & 13 in the world and a man whos game he knows nearly better than his own.

I've always thought it undignified for player to have a moan when not picked in the past Re. Bjorn(2006) but if Eddie doen't get picked tonight, I feel he is well within his rights to have a right go at captain Montgomerie.

I wonder if Monty reads the forum, coz if he does I'd point him towards this post.

I wouldn't touch Casey. His form is ropey at best and I do question hisability to get the job done under pressure. If the rumours are also correct about the last Ryder Cup then I question Caseys committment to team golf.

He would not be in my wildcards however that's just my opinion.
