Golf is fun

I've seen a few posts here with people mentioning children or grandchildren of various ages playing, so I thought I'd ask, what junior events are they currently playing in?
How do you find it?A lot of our youngest local players are involved with this….
How much is membership? We did a few on the Northern Junior Golf Tour. Well run and good events, but since PING took over the sponsorship and the tour expanded you really need to buy a membership and commit to a lot of events to get value.
Jamie just plays Junior Opens now, picks and chooses his courses.
Plays a few main (adult) comps across his 3 memberships as well as the team stuff for club and the Yorkshire Inter District set up.

Most of them around here are £10-20 a year, so you only need to paly a few comps to make it worthwhile, although a lot will let you play a limited number 1-3 without membership.
I think my daughter is at a similar stage to yours - wasn’t interested this year for similar reasons. Will hopefully lear a bit about the “next rung up” over the course of this yr as she’s about to move up to the next section at our juniors. How do you find it?
We have done it the last few years, but I think my daughter is getting a bit beyond what it is intended for now. That said in the group there is at least one team that takes it a bit too seriously, they're a great club with a really good junior section, but they're a bit too focussed on winning which doesn't seem in the spirit of what golfsixes intends. I'm not against encouraging kids to be competitive, but they put out 12/13 year olds with a few years experience against 6-8 year olds playing their first rounds.
I've witnessed parents from this team getting heated about rules and scores on the golf sixes, which is completely not the point. My daughter is competitive, but she understands golfsixes is not the place to dial it up, even to the point that when we have really inexperienced opponents I encourage them to move it out the long grass etc.. It's supposed to be fun and encouraging them into the game.I think my daughter is at a similar stage to yours - wasn’t interested this year for similar reasons. Yes, I agree anyone putting out a “serious” junior team really hasn’t picked things up from the promo material and rules (e.g. pick it up and chuck it out of the bunker after a couple of failed attempts) which very clearly show the concept is to provide an event for those at a relatively early stage of learning the game.
Yeah I can see how at that level it becomes less worth it if you can't make all the events due to dates or venues.Think it’s about £30 - but they are spread out all over now. One of Jamie’s mates is tearing up the under 12 section - he loves it.
