Hello forum pals! I have finally got my hands on the right putter for me (an Odyssey Black i Series No 1) after going through many others.I started with a milled blade, then a milled mallet, then another milled blade, then a c-grooved mallet, and finally I am ready to end my putter journey with an insert blade (phew!).I really love the feel and roll the insert gives me,but after reading Fundy's post I see not everyone agrees! What do you prefer, and why? Discuss friends! :D

Played with my odyssey #9 yesterday but couldn't buy a putt so went back to a Ping Anser today and had not distance control. Can't use a solid face or insert. To be honest I tend to use a softer ball (Pro V or Z star) with the Ping and a harder feeling ball like the TM Burner TP or Cally Tour) with the insert

Good point Homer,it's not so much the insert or face having a certain effect on feel/roll,but the combination of the putter and the ball you use.The Srixon Trispeed seems to go very well with my Odyssey.I tried the first black series (milled) for a while, but found the ball would spring off the face a bit,and take longer to roll smoothly.I imagine your stroke plays a big part in this conundrum too! Any more input guys?
