Seems to be a little bit of playing the poster rather than the post or maybe you just read it totally different to how I did. From what I read in Paul's post he acknowledged we both (French & UK) have a duty to preserve life and effectively questioned why the French don't address them being able to launch to sea in the first place.. Maybe I'm wrong but that's how it read to me??

I thought the whole immigrant thing was that they were supposed to be dealt with and processed as soon as they arrived in the first safe country. They tell everyone they want to go to UK and everyone says "on you go then".

Maybe they told the French Navy they weren’t in danger and didn’t need rescueing.
If you're in a small rubber dinghy trying to cross the busiest shipping lane in the world then you are in danger whether you think so or not.

From the footage Ive seen the dingys are vastly overcrowded and they were bailing out with their hands.

My issue with the OP is the source being an inherently Right wing bias propaganda poster (Guido fawkes) which just promotes division of the masses rather than bringing factual based information. But his twitter post has clearly had its desired effect.
I absolutely believe the French should have effected a rescue, but equally they need to address and be held accountable as to why they're allowing these people to slip through and getting to sea in the first place. Thankfully regardless of responsibility UK border force rescued people whose lives were at risk and thats the most important thing.

It still doesn’t give any Country the right to “board” a vessel and force the occupants off.
The Dinghy you’re on about was on Sky News and happily accepted help once the British Ship turned up.
I don’t like it anymore than you, but too some way make it seem the French are escorting every illegal immigrant trying to cross is not correct.
Can you imagine the bad press if one immigrant drowned being forced off a boat by the French?

What with all this Covid 19 coverage dominating the news recently I have been missing some good old fashioned right wing migrant scare stories. I was worried those stories had gone away as most of the country seems to have realised over the last few weeks that not all migrants are evil, indeed turns out some are quite useful when it comes to things such as keeping us alive, ensuring deliveries keep going and that our fruit and vegetables get picked. So great to see this back, I do hope the Daily Express and Mail have seen this story and up their migrant scare story game as well. Just like the good old days.

Possibly because the UK Government have given the French many millions of pounds to help them to prevent the immigrants sailing across but it appears they are happy to accept the monetary help then do nothing to stop it !
