Might be going back to Crowborough Beacon!!

What a great deal! If I was a little closer than I am then I would join with you. Just that bit too far from Findon though.

Crowborough is a superb course and in my view, certainly in the top 5 in Sussex, if not the top 3.

Go for it and I will come over for a game as soon as you are in, invite permitting of course!

Best regards,

Snelly.

Cheap mate... £1000 for 5-day at my gaff :(

Crowborough might be a little too far for me Rob, how long does it take you to get there?

It would take me about 50 minutes to get there James.
On the basis that Boars Head is slightly further away and it takes me an hour to get to either Lindfield or East Brighton I wouldn't be losing out a lot.
The course is worth the travel mate. Honest.

Interesting, ive never heard of it but it looks awesome, quick check on google and im 30 miiles out.....hmmmm food for thought!

It's one of the few courses in this part Sussex that I haven't played at. It has a great reputation and for that price is a bargain. A bit too far from the coast to sign up as a member for me though. Another one for Smiffy's guest list.

Seems very generous to allow County Membership if you are only 15 miles away. To get a deal like that at my place you have to be 75 miles away or more. I would certainly travel to a decent course at that price so seems like a no-brainer.

I had a look at the Google course flyover and there looks to be a good mix of holes. Especially there are several long and then shortish par 4's and it looks like a course that you have to plot your way round

Can understand why you would want to return there Smiffy

Chris

Just what I was going to say - but wouldn't complain. Been looking forward to a game there for a while and have never beaten Smiffy on his home course yet, having not played Boars Head!

Do you ever play in the "Rabbits" Jezz??? I used to love playing in that every week, especially when they have the Rabbit suppers. Bill Burns Begg used to run it, don't know if he is still around??? It was a long time ago.

Careful Smiffy - if you play in the Rabbits be prepared for a 5 hours round!!!

Well, I phoned the golf club this afternoon and spoke to the Secretary. I just wanted to make sure that the "unlimited golf" meant just that, and to find out if there were any other restrictions in place.....
"No catches" I was told.
Unlimited golf means unlimited golf, with tee times able to be booked up to a month in advance via their on-line booking system.
I would be treated exactly the same as a full playing member, I wouldn't be given a different coloured bag tag, and nobody else would even know I am a "County" member unless I chose to tell them.
I can enter all competitions with no restrictions, along with club matches (if picked!).
They have emailed me the application form and I will complete it this week-end. As others have said, it's a no-brainer. £50.00 per month to be a member of a great club like Crowborough, I am easily spending that much, and more, travelling around playing "lesser" golf clubs.
At last I am going to be a member of a club where I don't mind inviting anybody down to play.
Really, really excited, and looking to get some of my hunger back for the game!

Great news Rob, sounds like a cracking deal they're offering.
It certainly is Gary. I thought the "Fairways" membership I got at Highwoods was decent enough, but you were restricted to 25 games a year, and could not carry over unused pre-purchased rounds. With the stupid tee restrictions placed on you at week-ends, I only played the course 13 times during the year I was a member there. It worked out bloody expensive. You were also restricted in as much as the "type" of competition you could enter, and you weren't allowed to put your name forward for a club match. That was a big "no-no". Highwoods was a reasonable course, but as a test of golf, Crowborough knocks it into a cocked hat.

I bet the full members are happy with that deal, especially those who live 14 miles away. Not knowing that part of the world, how long would 15 miles take you??Over half an hour??

Great deal for you,is this a new membership category Smiffy?
