Hi all,

I was lucky enough to play Aldeickbury Park today at Rickg's invite, Justone made it three of us, sadly no fourth, a big mistake really as the sun was out and Aldeickbury looked beautiful. It's a lovely course with some great holes and smashing greens.

As I seem to be the first to post I am pleased to tell you I out classed them both and maybe even taught them a thing or two, or I would be if that was what happend.

What actually happens was a super relaxed game of gold with everyone playing well. Rick just made his handicap up before we arrived so he was tricky to beat at his home ground but we gave it a shot.

Rick 39
James 35
Alex31

My excuse, very happy tee to green, poor chipping and putting. Clearly outclassed by these two chaps I did not make a fool of myself and struck the ball really well.

A great pleasure and looking forward to the next time. Thanks for the invite Rick, I would happily be a member at your place.

We just got home mate... snacking round the table whilst firing up laptops and charging skycaddies ready for tomorrow.

We went out and played another 18 and had a matchplay game against a 16 & 10 h/capper and beat them 8&6 :D

Rick says he's happy to teach you a few tricks to get your score closer to 40pts than 30.... although i'm not sure we could learn much from his short putting.... !!

Was good to meet you... another face to cross off the list :) and enjoyed your company. It was a right laugh... I'm SO easily distracted!

Hopefully we'll meet up another day when you can drag yourself away from your family!!!!

LOLOLOL :D

Guys...had an absolute blast today.....really enjoyed it.....was V happy with my 6 over gross including that stupid double bogie at the tap in for par 14th......wot a nob!!:one:

banter was top notch.....even enjoyed the golf after my knee popped!...still in a bit of pain...taking on the challenge from the 2 guys we met in the car park later wasn't the brightest idea tbh...but they were great company........

just hoping my knee holds out in the medal in the morning as I cant use a buggy for the competition, although will definitely be using one in the afternoon.......

Rick do you think we should be sleeping?....up at 7am and 2 rounds planned
Well if you stopped showing me those stupid golf videos you made earlier then I'd have gotten through all the posts I want to read....cant to go to bed with unread threads!!!!!!!!!

Alex and I had a little chat and decided it would be polite to let you win on your own course... hopefully we managed to throw a few shots away without you noticing that we were doing it on purpose

so you decided to not shoot 40 and 41 out of sympathy?....

up bright and early for day 2 of the road trip ( after 3 hours sleep!!)..........medal this morning, then Paperboy coming up this afternoon......knee is swollen and sore so will be interesting to see how it goes........buggie this afternoon methinks!

And then a month off with a knackered knee......

Good luck Old Boy - try and dodge the showers - although with your knee that may be tricky....

Don't listen to him, his knee popped after he missed a two foot putt. He told James and I we would be TOTALY lost on this hole/green, we both pared. Then Rick made double and "oh my knee"... He went on to par par birdie... On the way out we had to walk back through the club in case there was anyone Rick had not yet told about his bad knee!

It was great fun chaps. Gutted you went out again, I would have joined in.

Day 2 update........

Morning medal...managed to squeeze James in a spare slot just to play the course.......We paired up against each other and 2 other club members and played a friendly match for the beers....James and his team mate won that one, but James only had 24 points....his partner had 38..............I had 35 and was the only one in our group playing the medal..........same old story for me........2 over gross front nine for the equivalent of 21 points........then threw a good round away with an 8 over gross back nine (14 points)........finished on Nett 72 and missed another cut....sloppy..........

James was a bit out of sorts and was experimenting a lot off the tee with different ball positions etc.......he finally got one right in the afternoon round on the 15th..........

So to the afternoon round....Simon turned up around 14:00 and after a swift drink we headed out under ominous skies....... Our Captain had to pull out to pick up his daughter from the airport so it was just the three of us...........

I wasn't taking any risks so got a buggy to try and protect the knee as it was quite sore from walking round in the morning........

Front 9 was tight between Simon and myself with 17 points each...we were off the whites playing the same medal course as the morning so it was quite tough...............james carried on experimenting........back nine wasn't kind to Simon and despite good drives at 10 & 11 he ended up pointless... a point for him at 12 kick started him and he played well from there.....I also started the back 9 slowly with just 3 points after 3 before settling down and taking 14 from the remaining 6...........James continued to experiment.......

so 24 again for James, 28 for Simon and 34 for me...........we stopped after 9 for the lightening and rain before heading back out.......we got drenched on 17 & 18.....the 18th green flooded during a hailstorm downpour and as soon as we had putted out it stopped and the sun came out..........

Still at the club having a drink and putting the world to rights.........James wants to go to bed as were up at 4 am.......lightweight........:ears:

thanks to Simon for coming all the way up...great company as usual............

wonder what time we'll get to bed tonight.........

Sounds like another good day. Sounds like it was set up tough today.

Is the knee better? It has not seemed to hold you back too much.

I would have preferred playing with you guys. Medal, tee off 11:40, putted out on 18 at 17;40. Great. Lightning delays, combined with dreadful golf. Junk. Hello 9.7 then.

Just like to say thanks to Rick for hosting me yesterday afternoon. Played really well on the front nine.

The rain break did me in a bit, still played ok. Second shots where off on 10 and 11. To hear Rick saying thats just hit to well Si, as I hit another hybrid into a fairway bunker teying to play safe :S

But much better then my last visit 2 years ago :P
