howdo all,

below is a link to my latest attempt at a golf swing, the video was taken at last nights lesson (my 18th).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94n3g19XUH4

i know their are still issues but overall i'm alot happier with my swing now and would like other golfers opinion?

i first picked up a golf club in anger Feb 2008 and played my first 18 holes in April 2008.

their has been discussion regarding lessons and i for one am extremely glad i started lessons from the very start. I currently buy a lesson pack of 10 lessons a year which includes video, supervised practice and a 9 hole course lesson for £285 from playgolf Manchester. Adrian Rodgers is my tutor and i cannot recommend him enough - worth every penny and more.

as a total novice i feel unqualified to comment...but i will any way. i notice that on the back swing the club reaches the '9 o clock' position well beyond your right hip....i was under the impression after watching various videos that the club should be cocked at 9 o clock when your hands reach your right side.....is this wrong ...what have you been told?? otherwise looks nicely controlled and envious of your very sraight left arm on the back swing.

Looks like you have a good tempo and a smooth swing, however, you really come over the top on the downswing, I have exactly the same problem leading to my bad shots being a wild slice.

Is something I am constantly working to get rid of.

looks solid for somebody who has been playing since February. Stick with the pro and the results will come- he certainly seems to have you set out on the right track.

Wow......there is some cracking stuff going on. Good for you.
Yes, the club is in a dodgy place going back (do you struggle with short pitching?), it's an easy fix too.
and it's hard to think you don't pull quite a few!!
The side-on downswing is rather good....I'm impressed....
If you want to check the position at 9 o'clock, do it, but watch for your head....turning to "look" at where you are can lead to problems.....take care.....
Nice one :)

Ooooops getting my years mixed up, that'll teach me to log on after a 10hr day. Sorry 2007 not 2008.

FFTD - yes mate had to get Vokeys, the Pro at Reddish made me an offer i couldnt refuse! let me know when you fancy a knock?

Yep i agree about the hands at 9 o'clock, and i definatley struggle with coming over the top! HTL i imagine you feel my pain. like all high handicappers i manage the 'full house' of bad shots. my main problem is dipping into the shot when i'm swinging too agressivley which leads to a fat shot.

Yeah Adi is ace, we basically work on two small adjustments per lesson. i go away and try and bed then in before the next lesson so we are building the swing in small steps. he emailed me the swing video from my very first lesson to see how far i'd come and the change is unbelievible :D

my short short iron game is OK as i have a completely different stance but 60-100 yards is ropy and dont get me started on my putting - an armless, blind, monkey could putt better than me :(

how well do I recognize this! with me it's a tendency to collapse the right knee that starts it

I thought fundamentally it looks pretty sound especially side on. I thought the backswing was a tad straight back for me and so a little steep hence the coming over the top action. Apart from that you turn very nicely and are very positive through the hitting area and through to a nice finish position.

You just need to feel that your arms are a tad more behind you at the backswing as opposed to up. I feel if you could get a little flatter it may help get you to drop inside and not OTT. Just my opinion

The very same advice I got on my last lesson - and I am partially cured.

Um.....hello.....

Wake up and smell the coffee.

How much flatter do you want to go (EXTREME SARCASM)?

Sorry Mickey (this is for the forum).....but this is where the work needs to be done.

Dave,

that is excellent! how did you take those stills? its the reason why i put my swing on the forum, to gain peoples opinion on the good and most definatley the bad points of my swing. i totally agree that i need to work on the takeaway position. dont worry i wouldnt take offence to constructive criticism :D

Here's a good sequence. I don't know who it is, but it serves the purpose. My backswing was almost identical to M2d back in the winter, but I was going back the same way then coming down from the inside.....

The 2nd photo shows the type of plane I've been trying to acheive. A very Faldo-esque effort.
3rd photo....good knee....
4th photo....self-explanatory, superb......
