is it just marketing or is it it proven that metal spikes cause more grief to greens? and which is safer to use in winter conditions?
I use Champ Pro-Stingers in the Winter.
A plastic cleat with a metal spike in the middle - great grip and they don't clog.
Others I play with wear cleats all year and I've seen them slip.
Nothing's perfect but I feel metal is better in the Winter.
Back to cleats in the Summer shoes now.
What are playing, ice golf?
Errr
Winter Golf - it tends to get a bit damp
Good for you....
Our course bans metal spikes on the grounds (no pun intended) that a discarded spike could damage the mower blades. I have yet to slip and fall with soft spikes.
Of course they (soft spikes) don't provide greater grip, what a ridiculous statement.Never had an issue with soft spikes and from what I can recall, they provide greater all round grip than metal, but has been a long time
Aqualand? Maybe if you stay on the west coast.Coming from aqualand, ie Scotland, I have never slipped wearing soft spikes???
