Membership Fees

Home, Parkland course will be £980 for 7 days & pretty much, until this year, all year round golf on grass tees & greens. £320 for 6 day Country membership of a Championship Links just 80mins easy drive away (£20 in fuel sometimes shared) & definitely all year round golf, when wind allows :p
Great contrasts of golf at a very economic price.

And you win today's prize of a soggy peanut voucher...(y)
I was a member there, well worth it. The club secretary was very understanding when I was in limbo due to work.
The course is great around the front 9 making your driver accuracy important. The back nine is easier, until you get to 17 and 18 and your knackered. The par 5 is reachable in 2, just play the land. The greens were always rapid and good when I was there.
This was my treat to myself course.

I'm on the hunt as I don't feel I'm getting value from the Zoo right now.
It's going to cost me a lot more but, where I'm contemplating, it's almost always open and playable as it's built on chalk Downland...
Think they closed twice this year for rain - first time in 8/9 years.

Ellesborough then 😃

And it’s impossible to gain a “what’s the right fee” because it will depend on area , course , type of membership etc etc

Some want cheap and cheerful, some want quality etc

Have you looked at the MP development plans? I think it could offer some real competition in the area, sure JOG is lovely, but the £1600 joining fees is massively OTT

Seen the MP development plans - the 9 they have now aren’t exactly inspiring and the land isn’t great , certainly not a patch on JOG who are looking to spend a good amount on the main course as well as clubhouse. JF at JOG can be spread across 5 years etc

Only one winner in that contest between the two

nope played a match there a couple of years ago and in absolutely no rush to go back, theyll need to spend a lot of money!

caddington had big plans too, not seen it since it reopened but sound like its been watered down a fair bit

I pay about £850 for 7 day membership and play around 100 games per year which works out roughly about £8.00 per game, £2.00 per hour which I consider damn good value.

The course is a long way into the redevelopment and it looks pretty good. I'll reserve my judgement for when its finished.

No joining fee, 85 a month for 2 golf courses (one championship) , driving range (100balls a month), book of vouchers including guest passes, buggy vouchers, 2for1 etc, half price pro lesson, 20% off in pro shop and in resort bars and restaurants. Annual gift at the end of year (such as a night stay, pro lessons or gift shop voucher), 10% off if you pays subs in full in March, 10% off if you introduce a member. Active membership with comps and leagues.

Option to upgrade to the gym etc.

Pretty good deal I reckon, and only 2 miles from my front door

I’m 650 a year for Inverness, but realistically that’s for 6 months golf due to the weather.
I play at Fortrose during the winter, £150, an absolute bargain.
Im away from home half the year, so clubs always get value from me.

MP will get a lot of the guys that used to play at Henlow and wouldn’t surprise me if members from Beadlow move over there - it’s better than those two. If it’s a long term membership then JoG is a no brainer but WGC is nice as is Letchworth

As with most areas though the better courses are the ones with the JF and a bit more expensive

Haven’t been back since it opened but heard they made a right mess of Caddington - certainly not what was planned imo

lets be honest the area from there upwards is sadly pretty barren for decent courses unless you can afford Woburn, JOG being the best of them (but at a price). Cant wait to move back that way and have to choose again :(

Moving back ?

Well you still won’t like our place 😉 but with the sprinkler system going in over the winter plus the drainage etc hopefully the course is going to be spot on

All depends on what course you are joining some are worth it and some won't be but then it's down to the individual. My fees yearly fees are circa £5,500.00 Spread over 4 memberships and I am happy with what I get for my cash.
prob still only works out a £10 a round for you :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

The NE of England gives great value on the whole. Average is between £600-£800 depending largely on location, what the local populace will accept. I think the costs are fair and reasonable for what is on offer.

I have played quite a few courses in N.Yorks and the cost there seems to be in the region of £800-£1200. I think the difference in pricing in this instance is reasonable as the courses I've played there have all been that bit better. Saying that, I don't know if I could justify the extra to my wife so perhaps I am lucky being where I am.

at some point it seems that way :( father in law seems to be aging and Carrie feels too far away from them here, just a case of where and when I expect (will be a bit further East hopefully!)
