I went to a nearby club recently that on the drive to the clubhouse had a sign that said

"Visitors Welcome"

Brilliant I thought.
50 yds on and as you approach the car park is a HUGE sign that says

"MEMBERS CAR PARK ONLY"
The poor visitor had to park in the pot holed car park a good walk from the clubhouse and first tee.

Now I suppose as a member it's nice to be able to park near the clubhouse, but I don't think it sends out a very friendly welcome to the visitor.

My question is
Does your club have a seperate car park and changing rooms for members and visitors?

This one of my real bugbears Bob.
I pleased to say that at Royal Liverpool we dont even have reserved parking spaces for the captian, secretary, past ladies captian or whovever let alone a members car park

I never thought about this until you raised the point, however imo members who have to pay more over the year,as to a player that plays a couple of times a year imo should have extra privelages and be able to see that they are getting extra for there money. However apart from the dedicated parking spaces for chairman, captain etc a parking space should be for everyone who plays on that day.As someone said being in a potholed carpark way away from the clubhouse thats not on.

Nope, we have one car park for all.

I was a bit put off when I played at Nairn earlier in the year, and they had visitor changing rooms. It's all just a bit elitist to me. After all it's the visitors fees that keep the subs down.

We have one car park for all. Personally think visitors changing rooms are a great idea. Been on many an outing and travelled by hired bus. The bus has dropped us at club and comes back at the end of the day. Visitors changing rooms with lockers gives us somewhere safe to leave our kit until we are picked up.

Visitors car park is a bit off. But i don't see anything wrong with visitor changing rooms. At my place there is a visitor changing room which uses the same showers and wc, but keeps changing area by members lockers free.

We have a huge car park for everyone, but over the last few months we have had people in the car park who will clean your car whilst you are out playing golf. Apparently they are doing a pretty good job.

IMO Visitor locker rooms are fine, so long as they are of a similar standard to the memebers'. Tpoo often visitors get stuck in a sweaty little room that hasnt been refurned in decades
In my view if you pay a green fee you should essentially be welcomed by the club as a member for the day

That's the sign of a busy club and good on them for providing visitors changing facilities. Most of the courses that enjoy a lot of visitor traffic up here have such a facility. Good idea to have a secure area for storing clubs and change of clothes etc.

You should try Gullane, only those on No1 Course get into The Clubhouse, the rest, who play No2 & No3, are served by a seperate Visitors Clubhouse, which is a superb facility init's own right.

:D ;)

Provided the visitors locker room is of similar standard, what's the problem? It's far worse to be in the main locker room, and have to keep moving about as members come in and want access to their lockers.

Different car parks is naff though, and one of my pet hates. A green fee effectively buys you membership for the day, so you can park anywhere (except the captains spot etc).
