McGinley's Dilemma

Just to digress slightly, I drove past Gleneagles yesterday on my way to Elgin. All the stands look like they're erected and from the outside the course looks ready for the event.
Shame I ain't got a job up there that week/weekend in Perth, it would have been good to get some of the atmosphere in town.

Should Poulter be picked Just because he played well and showed some passion for 3 days 2 years ago?

If we lose Will this question arise if Poulter continues his poor form into and throughout the Ryder Cup if picked?

Whether it be Matchplay or Strokeplay you can't just find your game when its needed if your out of form.

I had my doubts about Gallacher but there's no doubt he's the form player outside (marginally) of the automatic places. The fact he's a local favourite is a bonus but his place should be secure regardless.

Poulter sealed his spot two years ago, he's not in great form but hasn't dipped so badly to lose his place.

Donald/Westwood/Molinari..... I can see why people are casting around looking for another name as none of these guys have had a good season. Westwood was terrible at Medinah but did at least come up with a point in the singles. Plus he has shown a glimmer of potential form in recent weeks...... I think he just about makes it to my third pick.

Found it twice before when he has been a Capts pick

Can seem to always raise his game in matchplay

MONTY MONTY MONTY

His record in the RC is outstanding- he just trounced the field at the weekend by 10 clear shots........he's on form, he's experienced, he's proven..........plus theres not three obvious picks for me, they are all 'ok' but should be 'certs'

Luke is having some swing problems which will be exaggerated with the probable pish weather, but Nicklaus courses generally favour Luke with his solid short game. Plus the Luuuuuuuuuuke is great for chanting. Stevie G seems very good under pressure and doesnt have too many flaws, is in his best form but doesnt excel anywhere Imo.Ive got a feeling he will pick Molinari.

Not in a million years

He's won two senior majors this year - is that not one reason? You may not agree with it.

Nope not a reason because it's on a seniors tour

Would you pick someone who won on the challenge tour or EuroPro tour ?

Nope not a reason

Captains pick playoffs perhaps..

Monty V Poulter. Easy win for Monty

Donald V Westwood. Donald scrapes it as Westy chokes on the 18th with the putter :(

Luiten v Molinari/Gallagher. Luiten bombs his way to victory :fore:

Job Done

Not quite the same thing is it? Both Monty and Langer have all the experience required to handle the RC having been there and done it at the very top level. I would prefer to see either in the team ahead of Luiten or Molinari.

Poulters round yesterday cements his place.
Gallaghers round on Sunday cements his place (i hope).
Westwood pips Donald to the last pick on experience.

When did either last do it at the top level - have far back shall we go and pick players just because they have played in the RC but no longer challenge on any of the main tours.

Their time has passed - over a decade ago

If we pick an old croaker we may as well pack up as a sport. If the best we can find in Europe are that old then the future is very bleak.
