Matt Le Blanc to Top Gear

The object of Top Gear is to entertain the most number of people as possible.

It stopped being a show about cars years ago and has been an entertainment show mostly featuring cars for ages. Both leblanc and Evans are big car nuts, but as many have stated, you need the presenters to gell and work together more than you need them to know the BHP of a Ford Mondeo. They will no doubt ensure they have one complete car geek who knows all that stuff as the final presenter.

I think the BBC will make it as mainstream as they can and play heavily on Evans's "charisma" and reputation. Not convinced by Le Blanc but one thing I cannot see in any way shape or form, is the show struggling to the extent where Clarkson will be invited, with or without the others, to front it or another remake of the programme

I stopped watching Top Gear a few years back because it just became to samey, all they really did was move the same challenge to a new setting. Whilst entertaining at times, it was far from original at the end and probably worth a shake up.

The new version is almost doomed to fail due to the number of fans that liked the original format and presenters. The die hard Clarkson/ hamster and captain slow fans will almost definitely hate the new version regardless of how good it is, purely because of the way things went. They'll all move to Amazon and boycott the Beeb version, or watch the first episode so that they can all take to social media and berate it to death. I was surprised to see 6 presenters announced today, but this is a chance to revamp it a bit and try something new. I'm not sure about MLB being wooden, I've only seen him acting roles in TV shows, which he does pretty well - I really like him playing "himself" in Episodes. I will give the new version a watch when it airs, I'm interested to see whether they can do something with it, and I'll judge it on it's own merits, or lack of then.

I stopped watching top gear because of the presenters.

Will the new presenters and format be a success? Who knows but I'll certainly give it a fair crack. Seems like some on here have already made their minds up before giving it a chance

I guess because for some the success of Top Gear and the appeal of the program was based around the presenters and any other car program without them in it has been exciting as rotting wood.

I suppose that means all future car programmes with the 3 burks in it will fail?

Change is good and the old top gear was getting tedious.

Who's to say their new show on amazon prime won't be a flop?

i will watch it ,i think it deserves a chance before judgement is made.
i think the problem with a lot of people is they just arent too keen on on Chris Evans.and for that reason alone it is enough for them to give it the thumbs down before it has even aired on the tv.

Well as car programs go over the past 20 years there has only been one stand out program - Top Gear and you only have to look at the worldwide figures to see its appeal - other countries have attempted to copy it but the programs have bombed with more preferring to watch the BBC version. For other versions and how they have faired then just look at 5th Gear.

Some say the old Top Gear was getting tedious yet that didnt seem the general consensus with the viewing figures suggesting it was as popular as ever. Reckon more will watch episodes on Dave than the new TG

Their program on Amazon will be the tried and trusted format that made the show so popular in the first place - that can only be a winner.

I wish I had a crystal ball like you Phil..... I prefer to comment after I've seen the revamped series.

I enjoyed the old series but it was getting tedious, and Clarkson is just as Marmite as Evans. I certainly won't be rushing to buy an Amazon firestick to watch the old school.

Clarkson is great, it's the other two that ruin it. One, creeps up to him, like a bullies little pet monkey and the other thinks he is smarter than the both the other two and only puts up with them until someone realizes this and gives him his own show that he thinks he deserves.

Matt LeBlanc from "Friends" to present Top Gear? It'll never work. He spent too many years singing that he was always stuck in second gear ......

7 apparently. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35548251 Agree that is rather over egging the pudding and it possibly is a result of the BBC trying to be inclusive after the allegations of blokyishness of the old version.

Ginger guy - check, Black guy - check, woman - check, foreigner - check, member of the public - check, grey haired old bloke - check, Mute guy - check. Boxes ticked!.

Or may be it is one giant audition and eventually the 3 that work best together will end up doing the gig full time next series.

Seems total overkill. Can't see how they'll gel

Attempting to shock to make the program watchable - it all seems fake and childish tbh

I read the report earlier and if i am honest, I don't see what the fuss is all about. (puts tin hat on in case)

I agree. It is not a cemetery, it is a public street along which many people drive, walk and otherwise use as a normal space. Many political demonstrations are held there too.

The fascination with every event on this new Top Gear is amazing. Evans has been the subject of far too many news reports, many on the BBC. It is almost as if they wanted people to be really aware of the new show or something. I am sure Clarkson's new show generates just as many stories, but strangely those don't seem to reach the BBC website.
