Matalan or Galvin Green?

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Real mix and match here - I do like the branded stuff but will not pay top dollar for it so BOGOF's or sales and I am in.

Xmas shopping spree at AG last week - Tesco vouchers (gifts as well - not even mine)_ and you get twice the amount and I still struggled to spend on full price gear. Prised it out of my hands in the end though :)

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

I stick well clear of Matalan and other jumble sale shops

I can only assume that you have not ventured in to a Matalan store recently Robo???
They have some seriously decent gear in there. And unlike TXMaxx (or whatever it's called) you don't have to root around trying to find something in your size. Everything is laid out in order like a "proper" shop.

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

I generally just have M&S Chinos although I would like to find some reasonably priced decent golf trousers - know any with elasticated waistbands!!! As for waterproofs - only ever have Galvin Green as they seem so much better than others. Same for T shirts - I love the climate ones from GG - I must have 50 polo shirts but for the past 6 years or so I nearly always wear the same GG - I bought 2 in 2005 and have worn them hundreds of times each and they are still in great shape. They were in the sale and I bought 2 more at Blackmoor earlier this year which I reckon I will still be wearing in 2020 - and they were all under £30 each - I only ever buy this expensive gear from the sales rail!!

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

I will only wear Nike polo`s, I rate the Dri-Fit system, they always look the same after a wash and the collar never goes baggy (one of my pet hates with cheaper polo shirts) I am quite a big chap and the XL fits me really comfortable, where as a lot of other shirts I have to get an XXL:o and they never fit the same.
Trouses I am not as fussed with, must be comfortable (no shorts ever!!) and I think we all agree on a good quality shoe!

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Shirts - like many others I like the proper golf brands - I think they are cut better for golf - and will pay a bit more for them, but not the full price so it's sales, TK Maxx and e-bay for a lot of stuff. A new shirt always makes a good birthday pressie too. Most recent buys were Ping and Ashworth.

Trousers - Marks and Spencer or Land's End (there is an outlet shop near me - top quality for £15 a pair or £20 for 2 pairs)

Sweaters - still have a few Pringles from the 80's and 90's - including a nice one from a charity shop for 3.99 - result.:)

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

I buy golf brand clothes as it's a sport and I like to "wear the uniform" a bit as it tends to get my head in the right place. I also try and get stuff from the pro shop as much as I can to give the guys some support. Like others have said, I wouldn't go out without a top notch set of waterproofs as it's hard enough trying to play in the rain without being soaking wet and drenched in sweat.
