Matalan or Galvin Green?

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Must say its Ralph Lauren, all down the line for me. But I only buy in the sales. A big department store near us, has a 50% off sale at Chrismas. So I stock up on what ever I can get.

My reasons for buying is they fit me like a glove, plus I have polo shirt in my wardrobe that are over 10yrs old, and still look like new. If I had bought cheapo I would most likely had 20-30 shirts in that time.

So in the long run for me it is cheaper to buy good stuff rather than tat.

I like Ralph Lauren too. Being a bloke on the rather large side, I cannot stand wearing the modern material shirts. The Ralph Lauren Polo's fit me how I want them to and they last an age.

Trousers on the other had generally come from M&S.

I like a good label, although I do try and get them in the sales. Love Stromberg trousers, Lyle and Scott, Glenmuir and Cutter and Buck jumpers,Calvin Klein, Greg Norman t-shirts. Bought a load of Greg Norman t-shirts in the states eight years ago and they are still going strong. Sometimes you do get better quality for paying a bit more.

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

well, I don't care what you look like so don't worry about what I wear. I like GG, J Lindeberg, Boss etc, and as I can afford it now I'll buy it now, as I may not be able to i the future.

If the missies is buying shoes and handbags I have to take revenge somehow!!!

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

TK Maxx round my neck of the woods have some seriously cracking good deals on "designer" stuff for golf. If you can be bothered racking thorough the shelfs looking for it though

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Definitely disagree vehmently on the suggestion that high handicappers shouldn't wear the latest labels less they top it 30 yards into a pond. What snobby elitist nonsence. Wear what you like within the confines of club rules (and don't change inthe car park down to your pants). It would be a dull place if we all looked the same.

I have some pretty loud shoes which are my fashion statements. Comfy, long lasting and individualistic. Other tha that I wear adidas golf tops through choice as I like their cut, their designs and the fact the sister in law often gets the US designs for my birthday soI know its unlikely there will be too many of them around. Add in a few pairs of Strombers and coloured jumpers and I've enough clobber to make Murph and Smiffy look the picture of sartorical elegance. To be honest as long as I feel good wearing it then tough I'm going to keep on doing it. If I top it 30 yards off the first it won't be the only bad shot I hit and off 13 I'm expected to hit at least 12 others. Doesn't say how bad the bad ones have to be to play to my handicap

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

I'm in the buy cheap, buy twice camp and any clothes i've bought from Tesco have not really lasted. If you keep an eye on the Direct Golf / Online Golf / American Golf websites you normally pick up some cracking bargains. Got some Nike Troo's for £25 and BOGOF Under Armour shirts the other week.

Norbington-Hacket tweeds for me with discrete left dressing in the plus-fours, I cut somewhat of a dash on the winter links. The Captain looked impressed as he cut through on the first tee the other day.

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

J Lindeberg and Galvin Green for me,have been wearing J Lindeberg for between 7-8 years now and the quality of the clothing is top notch it never goes out of shape. IMO only Galvin Green make the best waterproofs.

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Apart from golf shoes and a Ping cap, I won't wear anything on the course that I wouldn't wear walking the street. Standard cotton polos and trousers, usually from Debenhams.

Re: Marks and Spencers or Galvin Green?

Oops Sorry, silly me, I thought thats what forums were all about, giving your opinion.

As for boring, it would be boring if every one agreed. I would also find it boring dressing up for fashion contest when all I really wanted was a game of golf. The very last thing that ever enters my mind when having a game is if I look smart or not

But thats just my opinion;)

You are correct in the theory of forums.

So your saying you have no pride in your appearance when golfing?
