I've bought LOADS of golf clothes over years, and still do. I don't buy bargain/cheap now because in my experience after a few washes, the clothes look like they've been in a cement mixer, given to Jonny Vegas to try on and then handed back to me.

Well I'd imagine I'm probably unique in this but HID makes my golf trousers for me. She does dress making as a hobby and wanted to give men's clothes a go. We settled on making me some golf trousers and they are brilliant. Really comfy as they are tailored to fit me and the cost to produce them ranges from under a tenner to 50 quid depending on the quality of the fabric. If budget allows then nothing wrong with wearing nice gear but paying obscene amounts for stuff that's looks terrible just because it has a name on it is just stupid.

To start with, alot of the designer lables do not fit me so, even if I wanted to wear them, I could not.
I tend to do the same as most on here, use supermarkets, Matalan etc for every day kit and M&S for something a bit better. Also use justgolfonline or end of range gear or some of the cheaper makes, like Stylo, of thesportshq for Woodworm kit.
Best bargains have to be Woodworm, decent quality at rock bottom prices.

Oops Sorry, silly me, I thought thats what forums were all about, giving your opinion.
As for boring, it would be boring if every one agreed. I would also find it boring dressing up for fashion contest when all I really wanted was a game of golf. The very last thing that ever enters my mind when having a game is if I look smart or not

Being in my mid fifties i should know better but i love to wear loud bright clothes and hark back to the glory days of the 70's,i have started to wear sub 70 clothes and love the faces of the old duffers in the club house as i stroll in in my pink tartan or fluorescent blue trousers topped of with contrasting shirt,life is for fun and who cares if i look a prat,it makes me happy.As for cheap clothes they are ok to do the garden in but not for the golf course or does that make me a snob.

Not wanting to hijack Wull's post...
So, you've started playing golf and joined a club.
You've got all the gear now it's time for the clothes.
Do you pay £10 for a normal polo shirt or £50 for the designer one
£75 for a Druh belt or £5 off the market?
£100 for a pair of troozers or £10 from Asda?
I understand (sort of) some people want to wear the designer clothing so they look "the part" whether its Hugo Boss, J Lindeberg etc they want to be seen wearing the "Right label"
But this takes the biscuit.....

I initially called the post Matalan but then remembered they do sell Ashworth, Ping etc.
So I changed it to M&S instead. Unfortunately, the title didnt change.

This season I have mostly been wearing Dunlop stuff bought from Sports Direct. Havent paid more than £7 for a polo shirt this year. They've all had a lot of wear and washed a lot and have held their shape.

Started out with Matalan keks, very generous in the crutch and butt area and not particularly good fitting. - But they were cheap.
Matalan sweaters, tight at the wrist and rub up easily. But they were cheap.
Bought some Stromburg keks online for £35.00, bargain and the best trousers I have ever bought for golf.
Always worn decent polos such as Adidas, Ping and Nike. I go for the clima fit synthetic stuff as they are breathable and help prevent the dark underarm and back wet patches.
Not a golf gear snob or vagrant, just wouldn't spend daft money on clobber.
