Lets hope he ends up where he should have gone 10 years ago to Leeds and takes us out of the championship and we can say good bye to Colin

bit like the reading thing tho ,strange time to sack him , you lose 1 nil to Champions elect & you get sacked . strange timing ,, just heard on MoD they have an anouncement on replacement early next week , was a done deal before today id say ..

I reckon the board at Sunderland are hoping for the new manager to get the players playing to save their careers often happens when a new boss arrives. But I do think they are in a good position as whats below them are even worse than they are.

Martin O'neil IMO is a crap manager who wouldn't win a raffle with the only ticket, people wanted him to replace Wenger at Arsenal a while ago, he is an average manager who might succeed at a lower league club

The others may be worse but they dont have to play Chelsea, Newcastle, Everton, Spurs, Southampton and Villa - I dont see Sunderland getting another point!!

Despite getting 6th 3 seasons in a row with Villa he nearly ruined the club with the huge contracts he gave to bit part players and we are still trying to sort it out today hence where we are in the league.

Aah man, was hoping this would happen after we slaughter them in the derby! IMO, he is overrated as a manager. Why he never played Connor Wickham regular is beyond me, I'd have him at the toon any day.

As a Geordie, I find this :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Done a similar thing at celtic as well

And so say all of us:)

We could have "The special one" here but until we have owners that will put their faith in the club and more importantly their hands in the wallets we will stay in the second tier of English football. There are two ways to get out of the championship. 1. Buy your way out with a Premiership team. 2. Kick your way out. Leeds at the moment are not capable of either regardless of who the gaffer is.

Don't worry playing Newcastle isn't a big deal at the minute. We're oly one place above the Mackems but have spend WAY more money. But then what can you do when you have replaced half of your team in January, time to knit together and all that

But as far as Sunderland go, rivalry aside, they have been a terrible team for a long time. Steve Bruce started it by bring 8 (I think) loan players into the first team and fail to buy anyone to replace them when their term ended. And I'm sorry to all the o'neil fans, but he is useless. Over performed at Leicester, and did nothing anywhere else. As soon as the going gets tough, threw the towel in and ran.

lets be honest here, what has O'Neill achieved as manager? A championship in the tin pot Scottish league and a bought premiership with Blackburn.

Call the SPL tin pot if you like but O'Neil had a decent record in Europe.
Not that I am a fan, decent coach/player manager, very poor buyer, and some of his player contracts were laughable.

I rate him alongside Chesney... makes lots of noise and tries to baffle with moo drops. Mind you, he's one of the best water bottle kickers I've seen.
