I was wondering after winning 40 WGR points, why doesnt he feature in the European Ryder Cup points list?
Is he unselectionable?

The above is factually incorrect.....he is ineligible for the world points list as he is not a Member of the European Tour.....

A great win for him. Takes the pressure off re tour card and entry to events - will give him a few more options.

From a European point of view I'm sure its only Euro tour events and selected others (WGC, Majors) that count towards Ryder Cup points, tour events on the other circuits will not be counted.

From The European Tour on how to win points....

(1) The Ryder Cup World Points List is comprised of World Ranking Points won by a European Tour Member from each tournament in which he participates between September 3, 2009 and August 22, 2010 and thereafter in the 2010 Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. World Ranking Points are allocated to all officially sanctioned tournaments (on any Federated Tour) by the Official World Golf Ranking and are allocated according to the Event Rating of the tournament.

(2) The Ryder Cup European Points List is comprised of points (1 point = 1 Euro) earned by a European Tour Member from all officially sanctioned European Tour tournaments on The Race to Dubai between September 3, 2009 and August 29, 2010 or the conclusion of the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles, whichever is the latter.

Just when Scottish golf was heading for one of its most comical periods for a while, along comes a Scot, a graduate of the US college system to win a USPGA Tour Event....

Had noticed him a week or 2 before on the US Tour but like most, had never really heard of him!!

Anyway, Congratulations to him and look forward to hearing more about him!

Watched a highlights prog this evening and saw his play-off win. Here's hoping that with his card secure he can go out there and develop his game further without the need to be worrying about his card. A couple of years exemption at his stage should help along very nicely.

Am I right in thinking that with a tour card exemption, he'd have more time to play the European tour and would only need the minimum number of US events to keep his tour status. That being the case would it not make sense for him to try a season on the European Tour and maybe sneak a RC place. Even if that is a bridge too far surely he'll be a more rounded golfer for playing different types of courses.

As thr US season seems to start around February time and finish in October surely there would be more than enough time front and end of the season to schedule the pre-requisite number of events. I know he lives and is based there but just a thought.

When he played at the Scottish Open (as an invite) he said in an interview that he would like to play in Europe more but as he was chasing to keep his card in the USA it was just not possible. He also said (jokingly i think!!) that he didn't have the £2000 to pay for his euro membership!!! If he had paid it the ranking points would have counted for the Ryder Cup.

Think he has said he will just stay in the USA though. He is now just outside the top 100 in the rankings. He wants to get in the top 50 to qualify for majors and WGC events which will enable him to be a playing member on both tours mch easier

Watched a fair bit of him at Loch Lomond and I have never seen a man hit the ball as high in my life....it had snow on it when it came back down....would say on that basis USA would be where his game would be best suited.

Well, that's another good week behind him. Coming off last weeks win, this weekend could have been a damp squib, but he played really well on Saturday and had a respectable finish last night.

Hopefully he can push on from here and become an established performer on the PGA Tour. makes for a bit of interest when watching the PGA events on Eurosport.
