Good lord have you seen the prices they charge?!!!!!!! I won't say what I'd expect for that, but the wifey wouldn't be pleased. We thought we'd stay over after a concert we are going to, but nuts to that, we could get a taxi home for less. Anyone got any ideas maybe wait until the very last minute and keep everything crossed?

plenty of travel lodge, premier inn type places. i agree the likes of the Hilton etc are charging London prices, often more if they are savvy and know of an event like a concert at the MEN arena etc..

We went to a wedding in Manchester and stayed at the Premier Inn near Salford. Very comfortable and I thought it was good value. It was a bit near THAT place (the theatre of sh*te) but kept the curtains closed so I could not see it.

I have stayed in the same one, its not bad for the money. one of my old customers was right by there. I asked for a room facing the quay, didnt want to wake up and see "that"!!!

We've stayed here a couple of times - last time just this last weekend for a night. And we'll stay there again.

Inexpensive (I think we were £50 B&B). Not the greatest hotel facility wise - and in need of a bit of TLC - but lovely and tranquil gardens given you are in a city location (actually on the edge of the Manchester Uni Fallowfield campus). £1 to get the bus into Piccadilly and handy for West Didsbury and the nice restaurants down there.

I think laterooms.com is your friend here. I've used them a few times and never been disappointed. The deals they do where they can't name the hotel are usually spot on in my experience. The bigger balls you have the later you leave it, just keep an eye on it as you'll see if all the rooms are going fast.

you missed the chance to see the Prem League trophy then :D

the hotel prices go through the roof when concerts and football are on even Travelodge and prem Inn, ive found not much you can do other than get in quick before the cheap rooms go.
If your ok going out to the quays on tram after try the copthorne some deals there at times

I stayed in the Manchester Piccadilly Premier Inn last Thursday, think I paid £60 incl breakfast. Great location, a little noisy, I would stay again....but I wouldn't eat in the restaurant downstairs!

If you are staying a night and need a bite to eat I can thoroughly recommend both of Alberts Restaurant & Bar and Bistro West 156. Former is big and trendy in an older (pub?) building; latter is very small and traditional in a Victorian terrace. Both do absolutely top quality food. Latter especially must be booked well in advance (only does two sittings of about 30 covers)

Any of the 3 prem travel inns at the Trafford Centre. The H Inn Express on Salford Quays... guess it depends on your budget. If you stay on the Quays, you can get a tram back and forth. A taxi out to the TC isn't cheap.
