Man Utd can still win The Premiership

But the top players want to play in the CL. & other teams will pay as much if not more in wages than utd.

Top players will also a lot of money - Mancs unfortunately are the biggest club in the country.

If Spurs can get top players without CL then Mancs will

City and Chelsea will pay more in wages and the Mancs won't be able to get everyone but they will still have the pull to get top players

I think most sensible Man Utd supporters will realise that following Fergie is going to be one hell of a task....for anybody. Moyes needs time to stamp his mark on the club and to get them playing his way. Probably 2-3 years rebuilding and buying his type of players. Whether the club and the supporters will be patient enough remains to be seen.

I like Martinez buts lets be honest that is largely Moyes team that he inherited so DM cant be all that bad. Got to be given time.

Not quite sure how this has escaped everyone.

Moyes inherited a title winning side, did he not? He HAS already stamped his style of play on that team - hence the indifferent defending and extremely inconsistent attacking play, the latter beng a particular trait for many a year whilst at Everton and hence why they were always 'nearly men'.

He's had exactly the same time (in fact, more) as Martinez has had at Everton. In comparison, RM has changed 4 keys players, all to replace Moyes signings and the impact, coined with RM's attitude towards the game, is there for all to see. It took 3-4 months. To a man, the other 7/8 starters that Moyes bought are playing far better under Martinez than they did under DM. Strange eh. Didn't take the Southampton manager 2-3 years either. And again to use those clubs as an example, none of them can go and spend 27m on an average midfielder....

And if I told you that Man Utd will probablybe budgeting to at least reach the 1/4 final of the champs league in the 14/15 season I'd say there's ample chance of him getting fired off if things don't improve, sharpish. After all, would be horrific if the share price tumbled, wouldn't it...

In footy, its all about the now.

We might be 3-4 hours away from London, but we may as well be in Greenland

Isnt that where most Liverpool fans fly in from every home match....? ;)

Spurs only got the players that Chelsea & City didn't want. Willian,I rest my case

Willian showed a perfect example of a greedy modern footballer - followed the money

He was on his way to Liverpool until Spurs offered him a great deal more money and then Chelsea offered him even more

He went to Anzhi from a Shakter after they offered him stupid amounts ( Shakter in the CL - Anzhi not )

The guy has form in chasing the pounds

I don't think Man U will finish top 4 or win the CL and so this huge revenue stream will disappear. Will they attract top players to a club not offering CL. Maybe, maybe not. I wonder how far into next season will they give Moyes before enough is enough

Moyes won't be getting the boot any time this season or next.

If some one offered you 30% increase in wages to jump ship would you do it?
& would this make you greedy? If teams are willing to pay it then the players will take it & you can't blame them.

Didn't say I blame the players - there is a lot of people to blame for the greed and money in football - the Premier league and Sky sit at the top of that tree.

But you did say he's the perfect example of the modern greedy footballer.
Personally I'd put Agents at the top of the tree.

He is a perfect example - isn't the only one - there are thousand more

Agents are up there - they are able to demand the money because of the money from sky and the creation of the prem league

Moyes went to a club that were champions , but its an old team and it shows , RM is doing well at Everton , but one or 2 of his players are loan players , still he has bought well and Everton had a solid back 4 before he got there , he is a good manager and very good on tactics and having a game plan and speaks well , Man U , well they need a clear out , Evra , 2 centre backs , Giggs , Anderson , Nani for starters , great for football if its Arsenal champions , next 3 Liverpool , Everton and Spurs / Newcaslte or saints .............Great it would be , a big kick in the teeth of the two money bags teams and their owners ................. EYG

United won't win the league under Moyes in my view, he just isn't the right man for the job, he's a good mid table manager who will occasionally get a team close to CL qualification.
The job of United manager is too great a task for him. Of course it would be very difficult for anyone to follow arguably the greatest manager of all time. A conspiracy theorist could argue that Moyes was brought in as a fall guy so it would be easier for a bigger manager to come in under less pressure. It wouldn't at all surprise me if Moyes left at the end of the season and someone like Klopp came in, my first choice was Ancelotti, he's not having the best of times at Madrid so he might be available come the end of the season. Or you never know, Pep might get bored winning everything there is to win at Bayern.

What made them stop doing that? Did Sevillians all of a sudden stop being partisan? They hardly go there now, mostly only for friendlies I think.

Games are played in Glasgow only due to the biggest independent Stadium being there and also the fact that it's the home of the FA and needed paid for..........a bit like somewhere else I know of.

I don'y know dodger, I know Spain used to go around the provinces, and particularly Seville for important games, up to 10 years ago. Berlin - do you see Germany play their much?

Slime, I don't think this is a thread to go into politics heavily, but the city of Liverpool, and other northern cities felt abandoned by successive tory governments in the 80's. The media was and still is to a point very London-centric. The English FA - many Liverpool fans still want to see them answer for their part in Hillsborough. HS2, the olympics, Wembley rebuilt, Twickenham rebuilt - all in London. As a scouser we feel more in common with Geordies, Scottish and Irish than people from the south of England, in their yellow corduroys.;)

Successive top Liverpool players have gone on England duty and come back crocked. If I wanted to go and watch England at Wembley(£100 return rail, £100 half decent hotel for 1 night, £50 ticket, £100 few bevvies before and after)= £350. I went and watched the reds play in Prague the other year, flew easyjet and had a week in Prague for more or less the same.

I did get caught up in the Euro 96 atmosphere and went down to Wembley and watched 3 England games and loved it, I also seen them when they came to Anfield twice. I support England in major championships, put they will never be my passion. If they went on the road a bit more that passion may increase, but you still don't give a good reason why the can't play SOME of their matches away from Wembley.

Try and see it from a northern perspective, and you may understand why.

Netball - tight shorts, Mmm, nice.

Anyway, I'm sorry to take this off topic - I'll let some of you get back to the Man U bashing......;)

Summed up perfectly

Why are they silly ?

It costs a lot of money for people to travel down to London from midlands/north regions/south west regions

Compared to the overall cost, the additional cost of the travel - compared with what it would be if it was relatively local, is tiddly!

As BiM states...It's not a cheap day out! It's actually a bleeding expensive one. It would cost more than I am prepared to pay - and I'm pretty local!

Mind you, simply taking the sprog to Your/His PL Home game is likely to cost £200 or more!

A mate went to Chelski's CL victory and the total cost - tickets and return transport - was only £300. There are some peculiar values in Football!

PS. Will it be any cheaper/more efficient with HS2?

One thing people are not taking into consideration is whether the Glazers are actually wlling to spend any money - Their main sporting venture Tampa bay Bucanneers are actually worse that utd this season so any spare $$$ may well be spent there.

Even if Utd start splashing the cash they cant compete with City and Chelsea (or Arsenal if they actually spend some), those three could take it in turns to thwart any attempts by Utd to sign someone, a bit like spurs tried with Liverpool for Dempsey, siggurdsen, Eriksen and Willian, whilst those transfers havent neccesarily worked for spurs (william snubbed them for more ££) Spurs tactics prevented Liverpool from strengthening their team. If City and the rest do this they could effectively prevent UTD from getting in Champions League places

On to the England points - You will all see how bad and inept Uncle Roy really is. England will lose all three games in Brazil, UTD fans are now experiencing what we had to undergo when he took over from Rafa, we went from 7th to 17th in the league.

That just comes across as bitter

We are a tad off thread now but what the heck it's morphed into a bloody good thread.

I would cross a river full of crocs to watch Scotland but cost obviously comes into it.

A few years back we had a Wednesday/Saturday home match combo and I went to both that cost me around £300 in total by the time I paid for fuel, train, hotel, bevvy and tickets then the next month I went to Czech Republic game in Prague, flew to Munich, night there then train to Prague for a couple of nights there before doing the return and flying home from Munich again......4 nights, hotels, flights, tickets, transfers and bevvy cost me around the same £300 it had cost me to go to the 2 home games!!

That got me thinking that I would rather go away and see my team and since the introduction of the stupid Friday/Tuesdays so the big club sides can get their pampered prima donna's back in time for games I have not been to a home game and although I have not been to any away games I would have gone to 2 of the last campaign had it not been for things that clashed......................thank christ they did clash!!

The price of supporting your country at home is becoming over the top but that said I would probably still pay it as for me it's country first then club side second.....just.;)
