Not my words but David Moyes thinks they will be there of thereabouts come the end of the season.

Think this is totally optimistic and the bookies have them at 33/1. They are 5th favourites to win.

Suppose he has to have confidence in his own team but I always though that Moyes was a realist which does not seem to be the case here

Indeed they can!

But 'the bookies don't think so' with odds around 30:1 that they won't!

And I certainly with the bookies in this case.

Arsenal doesn't seem to be their first choice to win either! Understandable, given their recent post Christmas history. Each year seems to be the one where 'it can all happen from now' for Arsenal, only for something, mainly injuries, to go wrong down the stretch. I actually hope the do win it, as I consider them my '2nd Club' - something we foreigners allow ourselves. I've actually been to their games, while I haven't been to any West Ham ones!

I don't think I've ever made a post with so many cliches, or the like, in it. Just shows what happens with Football!

So Moyes thinks Scum can still win the premiership from 9th but Jose is saying Chavski are in trouble from 3rd.

Is DM talking about UTD or Everton? As they have more chance of winning it than UTD do with the way they are playing.

I really don't get all this 'Moyes is a good manager' pish.

What of note has he actually ever done? Kept Everton up and had them challenging for CL on a couple of occasions but ultimately failed.

Possibility of no European football which is a huge embarrassment.

It's a team that won the title last year, alright they were not the best ever team to have won it but he's turned them into mid table crap.I said at the time he was appointed that his football brand is dull and negative and that is proving correct.

Problem for any Club at the very top level is that that would severely restrict choice of new Manager. So they have to take a bit of a gamble - as they did with Fergie in the first place - and hope a 'Good Manager' can become a Great Manager when provided with the correct resources!

Moyes's performance at Everton worked - for Everton. Whether he can translate/change to Man U goals remains to be seen. But I don't believe he can simply can't take across to Man U his Everton style of Management. I actually hope it works out for him. And remember that Fergie had a few dire seasons where his survival was touch and go!

Fergie was twice the Gaffer Moyes will ever be and that statement stands even before he went to Manchester.

As a big fish in a small pond. But I'm inclined to agree. He still had a pretty tricky start and a couple of (certainly 1) very poor years at the beginning.

And this was in the George Graham's Arsenal era when 'dull and negative' was the winning formula!

Mourinho would have been an 'interesting' appointment! How close that came, if it was even considered, I have no idea!

Could be hard to attract big signings if they don't finish top 4

TBH their bigger problem will be keeping the top players they have now. I think they will have to keep Giggs playing for another ten years if they aren't careful.
My old man has been a UTD supporter since he was a kid and he is more concerned now than he has ever been about the state of the team and the managers ability to move them forward in any way, shape or form.

Im totally with Dodger regarding Moyes.

When we got rid of Redknapp, a lot of our lot wanted Moyes. I really hoped we didnt get him as his football is dour, negative, and not good to watch.

Also, he hasnt won anything, so he doesnt have that winners mindset, and at a club like Man Utd, that is surely imperative.

When you say top players i take it you mean Rooney & RVP?
Can't see any of the top teams fighting over Welbeck,Cleverly,Young & Co

United didn't win the Premiership last season, everybody else gave it away, and Ferguson, shrewd cookie that he is, saw the opportunity to get out as a champion & grabbed the present with both hands. Perfect way to protect his legacy by handing over his winners to someone else, almost knowing that they were going to fail.
