Maintaining the range tempo and consistency onto the course

Today I played a local course, out in 45 which was scrappy with handful of bad shots costing me dearly, I then out of no where had a -1 back 9 to finished up 78 minus 12. I will admit I didn't play what I would call great golf on the way back but just kept it simple.

I have started back after a 6 year lay off and been getting lessons. The pro has been top drawer and always has me hitting solid but as soon as I step foot on the course my head goes to pot at time to time with no tempo and consistency.

Does anyone else suffer this?

Hugely common. I made a comment about swing tempo a while back, difference in tempo between practice swing and shot swing and some posted, think it was Blue in Munich, 'why don't you just swing the same'. That seems such an obvious comment but one I now try to remember and actually do. It really helps. Next time on the course really try to visualise being at the range. See if it works.

Perhaps best edit your post - no swearing allowed on here.

Check out Tour Tempo which you can listen to in practice and your warm up perhaps.

Been a big fan of tour tempo for years and regularly use it at the range and practice ground. Like a lot of golfers though I can warm up and play reasonably well and have a good tempo and then suddenly for no reason it'll get quick. You then realise it has gotten quicker so try and slow it down but then become too deliberate and struggle to find that middle ground you had when you began. I have been working hard on trying to retain the tempo in my head with a "swing, set, through" based on the tempo I usually use. Has had some success on bringing me back from being too quick

I saw your post and panicked. I re-read what I posted 4 times to see if I had written something I wasn't supposed to ?.

You are meant to use an emoji at some point on a cheeky post, cheeky ?.
