Madeira

Asks the Pro's whose tour it is how significant it is.

The events are for them.

My point is that it's virtually a Challenge Tour event - look at the entry list on the Tour website.
The only "proper" European Tour players are those that finished 111+ in the RtD last year. Everyone else is either Challenge Tour or QSchool .
It's a nothing event that brings nothing to the European Tour - that's my opinion, like it or lump it

It has those players in it because the others are either getting ready for the WGC or are playing in the Matchplay - it was moved here after being cancelled in March and will allow a great number of players their chance to gain a card - just like when they play events when they have events when the Master s or the U.S. Open etc are on - because there are a great deal more golfers than just the top guys and the ET are also supporting them and it's not a nothing event to those guys nor has it been in the past to a great deal number of players

They are willing to finance and host a tournaments and someone life will change because of it. That makes it worthwhile to the people that matter - the players

And of course, you're right.
Anyone who has an opinion differing from yours is wrong and, as usual, you're going to keep on telling them until they agree or give up.

Which part of my post is wrong then ?

The Maderia Open in the past has always been hosted when other major tournaments have been hosted so it has allowed golfers from outside the RTD and from the Challenge Tour the chance to gain a tour card - past winners who have taken that chance are James Morrison , Micheal Hoey , Peter Ulhien and Brooks - all players who were on the edge but grabbed the chance and have gone on to be solid ET players - that's what it brings to the ET and you go telling those players that it's a nothing event , the players who have managed to have a career because of events like Maderia Open

It's not about being right or wrong as a person it's about thinking more than just what you think is right for the ET but what the players think is right

So far in this thread people have said - bin it ? It's a nothing event ?

How about say that to the people that matter and see what they say.

Maderia is willing to pump funds into a golf tournament and host a golf tournament that has the chance to gain a young golfers life and career - that makes it more than a nothing event

The case for the prosecution rests.....

You are right it does

Oh and the event is being co sanctioned by both the European Tour and Challenge Tour together

Case does indeed rest
