Taylormade have started the year with the (not unexpected) announcement of the M5/M6 release (https://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/gear/gear-news/taylormade-m5-m6-woods-revealed-170993). Screw inserts in the face now, and

Why is all this relevant? Well, on the new TaylorMade M5 and M6 drivers, each clubhead is made with a non-conforming clubface beyond legal COR limits. Every head is individually speed tested and then injected with a specific amount of tuning resin via two ports in the heel and toe that slows down the face. So rather than there being a great variation in how ‘hot’ TaylorMade driver faces are, on M5 and M6 they have all been ‘speed tuned’ to sit just inside the COR limit.

Other than that, a new(ish) colour way which harks back a bit to the Burner drivers. Not sure about the sole of the M6 myself, think I prefer the look of the new Cobra F9.

For all you fan boys worrying about lack of stock in AG stores, saw it announced on Onlinegolf too, so will be available when stock is released:)

Got to say the M5 looks better than the M6 but I can't say I'm a fan of either club.

But many will conduct open wallet surgery to buy one of theae for 2 reasons being the search for distance and to have the latest gear. Think I'll pass on them though.

Really like the new Cobra F9 but have promised the Mrs no new purchases this year so see how long that lasts :ROFLMAO:

Club pros who stock taylormade already have these to demo from the 2nd of January prior to sale next month, why would you bother waiting a month to see in AG

What makes you think it won't be available for demo in AG at the same time? It's oly available to pre-order, still won't be available to take home until TM release the stock in Feb regardless of the supplier.

Might as well bin the M3 and M4 then! Actually, give it a couple of weeks and its a good time to buy one! Love the marketing speak.... it's that time of year folks...

I was just stating that if you visit a club pro they would let you borrow the club to use on a range or on the course for a day or two before the club is released for sale to the public, you cannot properly demo clubs from AG as you can only hit them for a limited time into whatever they have

From a skim read it seems like with all this new technology, including:

● Speed Injected Twist Face
● tuning resin
● Hammerhead 2.0 slot
● Inverted T-Track
● Inertia Generator
● flexible Speed Pocket with a TPU slot insert

... I'll never miss a fairway again and will no doubt be yet another 12+ yards longer

Can't help but think what TM marketing meetings must be like - 'Mad Men' eat your heart out

Been at Taylor Made HQ this morning, talking to the developers............the product was apparently ready to launch for the Xmas Market, but pulled when they noticed the original plans to market the Speed Hightened Injected Twist Face had "issues" when the abreviated brand name was embossed in the sole of the club.

Looking at the spin rates Rick is getting makes me wonder if the average Joe is going to generate enough spin.
Average players need some spin to keep the ball is not the air..
Not a fan of the looks either...

Looks very good IMO, watched quite a few reviews and all seem to be picking up 4-6 yards either with better ball speed or with higher launch and lower spin. Definitely seems interesting more so than any other driver since epic came out, i use the m3 so will go on gc2 and on the course with a demo and do my own test. The m6 will spin a touch more and is slightly more forgiving than the m5.
I wouldn't use tm drivers for years as I couldn't stand the white but ever since they switched to carbon and silver I think they are the best looking on the market, m3 easily out performed my 917 d2 in almost every way when I made the switch

How much!!!!! £500 for the M5 - getting a bit silly price wise and Rick Shiels agrees in his review :-(

Having watched the review can safely say I'm not that impressed, lower ball speed doesn't deliver on the hype of everyone gets faster, don't particularly like the look of them and there is no way I could justify paying that much for a driver, as clubs get ever more expensive I'll be looking at older models of them to be able to justify new kit.

Imo pricing is getting ridiculous and away from the average persons budgets but as long as people keep buying prices will stay high.

Taylormade have started the year with the (not unexpected) announcement of the M5/M6 release (https://www.golf-monthly.co.uk/gear/gear-news/taylormade-m5-m6-woods-revealed-170993).
So they're saying that they've got as close to the COR limit as they can.........
Haven't all the manufacturers been doing this since the limit of 0.83 came in years ago? Every driver in the last 20+ years has had "maximum COR"
And anyway, COR is so "90's". CT or Characteristic Time is more relevant. It's a measure of how long a ball is in contact with the club face.
CT limit is 239 microseconds with a tolerance of 18 giving a maximum of 257.
Anything above this is non-conforming.
And I suspect all drivers are within a smidge of that number.
I'd also be a little concerned if the resin changes over time....if it does, will the COR become too high?
In other drivers there's no way a production model can go over the limit because they're made to it.
These are made above the limit and bought down to a legal level.
And how fixed are those screws?
