Luuuuuke!

Nice going Luke. Absoluetly awesome short game

From day one it looked like this pairing should be the final so nice to see it play out like it did.

I bet the Yanks were gutted that the final was fought out between 2 European players and the effect on the Rankings :)

Absolutely brilliant golf all week from him - thoroughly deserving victory. Such a shame though to see the WGC matchplay final yet again contested by two European golfers..... :D :D

On a related point, would like to see more of these WGC events actually played outside of the US. As nice as the Dove Mountain course is, how good would it be to see an event like this played at somewhere like Royal Melbourne, or in the middle east, Europe or South Africa?

I though some of the yanks during MK s game against Bubba were pretty badly behaved. They kept booing him when he hit a good shot, and on a chip and run he hit a couple of them were shout "Check, check" Bad manners.

I did notice Luke was no longer using the Mizuno Clk hybrid, he had one of those Adams things a lot of the us players use.

No waterproofs, wind cheaters, bag hood or umbrella - all of which might just have come in handy when it was sleeting sideways ;)

Kaymer got on with it (and was helped by a brief suspension of play) but you could see by the caddie's face that he knew he had dropped a ball...

Glad Donald won but boy I could have done with the extra cash from Kaymer for the RTD standings. I thought it was bizarre there were no waterproof in Kaymers bag given a) the cold temperature and b) the forecast. Even a brolly would have made a difference.

I wonder why Donald seems to do so well in matchplay but can't quite get it done regularly in stroke play. The yanks are notorious bad losers if it is going against them (ask Monty) and I do agree they need more WGC around the world but I guess the might of the PGA tour holds sway. I don't think the course is particularly conducive to a great spectacle either

Noticed the US coverage gave alomost equal time to the consolation match and tried to pretend it actually mattered. Still, didn't detract from a great match especially when Luke lost the lead then got it back. Hope it heralds great things for him in the year ahead.

Not a great fan of desert courses but the setting was amazing and the wild and prickly nature of the waste areas did add something a little different.

Thanks for that, I missed most of the front 9, so I assume the weather was worse early on. :)

Have to say Luke was superb all week - he may not be the longest hitter, but he showed everybody his mental strength.

It'll be interesting to see how he fares at Augusta, where accuracy is key - hopefully very well.

Golfmmad.

Just watched it on Sky+. Had to avoid the forum all day so I didn't find out the result. When I left it Kaymer had just squared the match and Luke was looking shaky for the 1st time this week and I honestly thought Kaymer would go on to win.

The way Donald composed himself and got his game back on track was simply awesome. Losing a 3 hole lead like that would have destroyed most players but the way he responded you'd have thought he was the one with all the momentum.

It was so refreshing to watch a 'short' hitter plot his way round the course and not rely on hitting it a country mile.

A great performance from start to finish and hopefully the catalyst for a great season.
