looking at buying a 2nd hand Lexus

How much do you want to spend G1BBO?
I've just had a lovely Jax X-Type 2.2 Diesel Sovereign come in part exchange. Not the sort of thing I'd usually go with being a Nissan dealer but it's so clean we thought we'd have a pop at it.
Full leather, Sat Nav etc. 6 speed gearbox, done about 44,000 miles with full service history.
I owner plus Jag, in Metallic Grey.
Nice car and fairly economical.

How old & how much?.

Corrected that for you. The later Saab's are basically Vectra's underneath.

I thought this, hence why it's peculiar that buyers are running scared.

However, when looking at diesels, the 1.9 is a dodgy Fiat unit (so I believe) and the 2.2, well, that's Vectra and the internet is full of issues with this engine.

I had a good look at the IS range when i last changed, Id had a few 3 series beforehand.

As it turned out a bargain C Class turned up and been v happy eith it but the Lexus are great cars.

When you get one Gibbo, perhaps you should treat yourself to a new set of clubs as well, they mest be due a change soon....

Hi all, my first post on the forum & i wasnt expecting it to be about cars :-)

Well - Lexus - hmmm . I have had a ton of cars and without doubt the current IS Series is the best

I currently have a 220d se-i + all the toys - bought new from lexus sheffield.

WITHOUT DOUBT best car i have had by miles

I very much doubt i will ever buy a new car again because a 2nd hand lexus with low miles is not only cheap for what u get , but the spec is usually incredible.

In terms of ownership,i have had lexus for the last 5 years and not had one fault to report

Re customer service- best by a r11s drive :-) -lexus go above and beyond every single occasion

Gibbo if you are still considering a IS - go for it

Regards

Ian

Can't believe in three pages about lexi (that's the plural of Lexus) no one has mentioned its the Japanese Mercedes!

Ahaaaaaaa!

Kiss my face....

I like my 1.9TiD Saab 9-3. :(

The only thing it has needed so far was a new battery and a suspension piece that was due to myself taking on speed bumps and losing. :D

Hi Gibbo
I have had a IS250 as a Company car for the last 2 years, it was an excellent car, great ride, real build quality and the only time it went back to Lexus, was for the service, I have had Merc`s for my last 3 cars and personally I preferred it to them. The customer service is first class, I am a total convert.
Downsides it can be a bit thirsty and not masses of room in the back seats, we have just changed our cars and the Company wanted to save on costs and at the same time go a bit "green", so I have a new Lexus CT200!
