My mate played in a Mixed Comp which had a longest drive Competition.

A lady won the longest drive, or hit the ball furthest from The Ladies Tee. Should she have won the prize for the longest drive when if she had played from the men's Tee it would not have been the longest!

Our club seems to go in for the straightest drive moreso these days - after all, very few can win the longest drive!

A white line marked down the centre of the fairway but only started about 200 yards down it.

We had some small controversy yesterday with our LD comp. Unfortunately the hole they chose had a slight dogleg, one drive was said to be longest of the tee but it wasnt given because it was slightly further from the green - alledgedly.

But surely by definition the longest drive is as measured from the tee. That is the drive!

I thought this when I read it!

Exactly as you put it Chris. The drive is/should be measured from the tee. Distance to the green shouldn't come into it.

Going back to the OP though, in our case men and ladies compete for the same LD comp despite being off different tee boxes.
