Hi, can anyone tell me where the rule or definition is about measuring a refief area using the longest club in the bag is excluding a putter?
Using the book you will see in the relevant relief rules that club-length is in italics. That indicates the the term is explained in the definitions. The online version has a paler typeface and provides a direct link to the definition.Kind of under definition of club length - thought there would be something under relief or penalty areas but can't see anything.
OK thanks - I guess the link works but I was under the impression from the presentations etc. it would be specifically spelled out in the rules.Using the book you will see in the relevant relief rules that club-length is in italics. The book has the definitions at the end. Online there are two separate resources, Rules of Golf and Definitions in addition to Official Definitions, Player's Edition, Committee Procedures and Visual Search.OK thanks - I guess the link works but I was under the impression from the presentations etc. it would be specifically spelled out in the rules.
Where does it say it isn't?Is a non-conforming club a club in the eyes of the rules?
If it doesn't say it isn't, then it is.I don't know. Which is why I asked![]()
That was exactly the reply I was hoping for (and expecting from at least 4 contributors). If it doesn't say it isn't, then it is.

Last time I looked there was a max length for a drive. ...48" rings a bell, but I may be wrongOk, ball retriever might be a stretch, but if I build and carry a 72 inch driver as one of my 14 clubs and never use it for a stroke?
