Lockers, yah or nae ?

Its a no from me. Security is a big reason (I am that paranoid) cant get immediate access to contents of pockets or the clubs themselves

I'll add more...

You also gotta assume you are not the only person with access. Don’t these things have a spare key/master combination so the club has access in certain circumstances

I liked having one.
It was included in membership fees.
You can still take your clubs home on occasions if you want to.
The club has decent security and you needed a code to get in/out the gates at certain times.
I also practiced at the club so they were there when I practiced rather than taking to a different range.
If wet or dirty I would clean and dry them at the club and there was heating so they were always in decent condition next time I played.

We can't keep things like clubs in the locker room over night but we do have cages where people can keep trolleys, clubs, buggies, etc. The people renting these have to provide their own locks so no problems with duplicates. Quite a few have power sockets nearby as well so people are able to charge batteries. I don't have a cage as I often play at different courses so need clubs available and also, when I go to the range in the evening the cages aren't accessible.

had one at Nairn for years was handy at times, but did catch me out a few times when i had games elsewhere and either had to change plans or not play as my clubs were 20 miles away in the other direction. handy for keeping a spare set of cloths in case of a soaking. one of the other downsides was i did end up with it half filled with crap

I've had one at Newport for the whole time I've been there.

I keep towels, toiletries, changes of clothes, golf balls, practice balls etc in there, but never left clubs in there.
I'm thinking of giving it up as I don't often use it. We don't change into J&T after matches now and if the weather's bad enough to need a change, we don't often go out in the first place

I'll reiterate what I said in the other discussion...

I can't ever see a reason for me to get a locker, would cause me more problems than solutions overall. Every time I want to go to the driving range on a Thursday night, or play at a different course mid-week in summer, I'd have to swing by my home club every time to pick the clubs up. Plus if they get wet I wouldn't want to leave them going mouldy in a locker. Instead of packing my water and snacks in my bag and topping up with balls, I'd have to carry all that stuff with me into the car to then put them in the bag when I get there, which feels like more faff. Can't practice my putting on a mat at home if my putter is at the golf club. Can't clean my clubs or my shoes if they are at the golf club.

Really can't see any benefit as it's not a hardship to chuck my clubs in the car before and after the round.

Not for me. How does your gear dry? That would be my worry / concern. Obviously you would not put soaking stuff in a locker but gear is frequently damp whether slightly wet or through sweat.
Ours was heated so a quick wipe of clubs and grips and they were dry next time you played.
If clothing I would take it home most of the time.
Used to alternate a rain jacket occasionally

It’s a yep for me

I keep all my shoes , tees , gloves , balls and waterproofs in there

Could fit clubs but take them home

We have heating pipes under the lockers which keep the lockers nice and dry

It doesn’t sound like it would work for you but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for others.

If your club had the practice facilities you used and was 5 minutes from home you might think differently

Big yes from me, they’re just sooo handy, everything goes in there bar the kitchen sink. If it has rained just air dry the bag while you’re in the bar after the round, soon sorts it out. In the past I’ve put a small air freshener and humidity sachet in there as well for good measure.
If I’m playing away I just need to remember to take the clubs home with me after a game or if it’s short notice the course is only 8 minutes drive from my house.
The pros far outweigh the cons for me.

I’ve got one, no issues with security, locker room is alarmed and Club has CCTV.
Club manager has spare key.

If kit gets wet, take it home to dry.

Honestly believe there’s more risk of Clubs being stolen from back of car than Club.

Keep spare balls, tees, hats & waterproofs in locker

Home club doesn’t have individual lockers (for clubs) but a large secure unit where all the left bags are stored. I won’t leave them there under lock even if I’m playing 2 consecutive days and returning 12 hours later
Despite the short duration, 24hr security patrols, manned entry gate, convenience etc, even if I’ve been drinking and have to carry the bag the 15 min walk home… its coming home

I’ve too much financial and emotional investment in that simple bag of ‘tools’

If after playing at the weekend I know I’m planning to go the range midweek or playing somewhere else I’ll take the Clubs I’ll use at the range or the whole back home and save having to go to the Club to get what I need, just takes a bit of foresight.

'Back of car' are you mad!! :p Never have I ever left my clubs overnight in the car

Oh and youtube is full of vids of robberies caught on cctv, still a robbery though ;)

Different strokes, different folks. I was never more than 10 mins away from most clubs I was a member of. Having a locker suited me, even if I got a last minute away game I could collect them no problem. A couple of clubs I’ve been a member at I could walk to.

If my gear got wet I’d take it home, dropping it back a few days later when I was passing.

We have a decent amount of lockers..probably a queue a mile long for one
It would probably work for me as I play 90% of my golf at the club and we have 24hr access if I need to get them.
Might enquire......

There are times I will not go directly to the Club from home or go back directly to home. Plus there have been cases of cars broken into in Club car parks in the past.

My club is 5 minutes from my home. But I go to the driving range after 8 on Thursdays when the club is usually shut. And I never said it doesn't work for others anyway, I was clearly speaking for me only and answering the question presented.

Yeah, but that would be every week for me, so I might as well just take the bag as it's easier. :)
