Local pub closed

Ive no idea what your talking about ha ha .. guess if people wanted me to know about it i would :o :p :D............

Not asking what it is by the way , This one will do me nicely for now anyhow , happy out in my blissful ignorance .. like being at home really :D

I just nipped ito the new pub and Bomber69 was there propping up the bar and he's says he's buying.

O'h and the rest of you need to get to the rang....:D

My local of 30 years plus, is now a Tesco Express

I go to the pub twice a week Tuesday and Friday, no more than 4 pints each night.

I was gutted when the pub closed, due to bad management, and was snapped up by Tesco. All the locals assumed it was bought by someone intending to open it up again as a pub. They applied for planning permission under a third party agent’s name, to knock down and rebuild some of the out buildings, extend building and relay car park. They specified no change of use was sort

Great news; new owners with a few ideas and a few bob to do It, we thought. The rumour was Weatherspoon’s. Then the second application came in for signage, Tesco signage that is. They kept everything clandestine to the very end. They are very clever, in that they know planning law puts building usage into categories. Pubs and shops are in same category, so no change of use permission is require to change a pub into a shop.

It was kept secret deliberately by Tesco to avoid local opposition. Due to no objections it was nodded through on delegated powers, without even going to the planning committee. It was a community pub and the local community shops are now in danger. They pulled wool over the community and the council.

I now know of 2 pubs converted in Tesco express in this way, I suppose there is more, and I expect to see more

I know a guy who does quite a lot of this work for Tesco.

Good earner apparently, though he does plenty of other such work too.

He drinks at my (real) local pub!
