Links vs Parkland - No Contest!

I managed to hit a horse in the arse once at Wimbledon Common. It galloped away a damn site quicker than it appeared into view. Not sure who was more scared the horse or the unsuspecting woman holding on for dear life. Not stood on an adder but seen a few. HTL saw one at the GM day last year at Ascot and was a gibbering wreck for hours

Are you two members of the Secret Cow Tipping Society ?

JF, you above all should know better than to mention the S.C.T.S in public.
As Second Baron to the Ultimate Emporer, I hearby demote you to 4th cow tipping assistant :D

Portsalon http://www.portsalongolfclub.ie/photogallery.htm

The best links courses are in Ireland  weather permitting of course lol :D !!

Not played Portsalon but heard good things about it. Ballyliffen was great fun however we played it in a really really hot day with a very very slight breeze, magic!

There's probably a 40 acre clearing to the left of that yellow bush ;) ;) ;)

Yes, but which yellow bush? BTW, looks a great links course, where is it?

I think you would agree for anyone to come over and play a few courses around that area would be great experience for any golf fan..

If you stayed in my city (derry/Londonderry, the north) would be a good starting point for traveling to any of these.. Hour or less would take you to any of these courses..

Its Royal Dornoch. This is the second par three and a little devil it is too. Not obvious on the photo but there's a huge bank on the left and if you hit it there you're on for a double bogie. Notice how much gorse has been removed.... the gray patchy areas. Was even more trouble when that was there. :p

JF that is a bloody tough hole as is all of Dornochs....a really good set of par 3's at RD,just shows that you don't need brutal length to make tough holes just classic design features like table top greens with big run off areas!

Agree 100%.

Found another 2 photos of that hole. There are so many good ones there but this is one of my favourite par 3's ever. Played it 3 times. Parred it once!

How's this for a sneaky wee bunker you didn't see in the other photo....and a gentle run off if you fade it 3 yards?

Ah Ballyliffen ,played the Old Links last year and next to Machrihanish its my favourite course ,am going back this year and playing the Glashedy this time . Portsalon is a great track as well ,no a lot of guys who recommend it,am afraid you can't beat the first 9 holes at Portstewart's Strand course tho.
