This may have been done before but what does everyone prefer?

I definitely prefer the parkland courses but dont mind the odd round on a links course, cant say I'd want to play one every week though.

Links, except there are non round my neck of the woods. I think that is why I like links, I don't get to play it very often.

Heathland is good too.

In fact, I just like golf.

having never played a links course i cant comment, however i do like the looks of a links course, cant imagine id like playing on one

Links, all day any day over a parkland ,where is stay i'm 15 mins from Carnoustie and St Andrews so a bit spoilt for choice.

Variety is the spice of life. Bit of everything makes golf a challenge, Links, Parkland, Heathland, Moorland, every type has something to offer.

I like links golf. Most of it is played on older, more established courses that have a "name" so you can almost guarantee quality whereas when you look at the number of new parkland courses that have sprung up over the last 20 years or so you've got more chance of getting a duff one.
Play on an old established parkland course and it's every bit as good as links I think

Having just got back from Ireland playing links golf (see other thread!) i must admit i loved it. The weather was what you migh call typical links - changeable! Breezy one minute, throwing it down the next then sunny again 5 mins later. All this added to the appeal! Sure it was difficult at times, but overall i think i preferred it to my normal parkland courses - the whole thing just seem to have more charecter, if that makes sense

Links is King all the way....even more so after last Fridays wash out at Parkland Carlisle GC followed by Silloth on Saturday with not an inch of standing water on it despite 24 hrs worth of rainfall!

Although my home course is a parkland course, I would play links golf every time if I could. There's just something about it, golf in the raw.

Links is the only way to play golf in its purest form, but for a bit of fun North Shore GC in skegness is a bit of both parkland and links. Makes for an interstig knock.

As a member of a park land course, i have to say park land, but livng in ireland we have so many great links courses(Royal Portrush,Castlerock but to name a few)it is hard to beat getting out on them and getting some great golf,so deep down i have to say links golf all the way ;)

I've actually never played links golf and I don't imagine it would suit my game as I hit the ball quite high & struggle in the wind. But I'd love to try it.

Never played a links course, but prefer the sculptured beauty of a parkland track to the natural beauty of a links layout. This may be a somewhat contentious opinion on the matter, but to me rugged coastline and dune covered terrain do not look a patch on the emerald greens and life full azaleas of Augusta et al.

As for judging on which I'd prefer playing on, like I said I'm wholly unqualified to form an opinion on the matter but I suspect even this would be parkland. From what I know there is always an air of unpredictability about a links which although desirable to some, doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.

I'm hoping to loose my links virginity this summer though, so I'll let you know if I change where I stand on this one!

Each have their merits, itll never be a case of one or the other anyway, I play parkland most of the year but enjoy the occasional run out round proper links courses.

As many have said already links is the true test of golf, I'm lucky enough to play in Ireland once a year and we try to get a links course in the tour each time.
I have to stand back in awe as the locals drill the ball through the wind and down the fairways, my high ball flight gets beaten to hell and back, but I wouldn't miss it for the world.
Links for me.
