I've been playing seriously now for around 18 years and for the first time last weekend played a round on a links. Thanks in no small part to having joined these forums

Really loved it I have to say - combination of the terrain, sea views and rugged unmaicured landscapes (I grew up in Ireland after all).

All my other golfing until then had been on parkland mixed with a little heathland too, but I just can't help feeling that given the choice I'd be happy to play on links from here onwards.

What about you?

I have played a mixture of all the courses and they all have their own beauty

My favourite is links then Heathland then parkland

But a day on any course is better than any day in work

Links for me. Just something about them. Maybe its being by the sea and it all being elemental. There's a couple of courses down in Ireland where me and Mrs Tongo had our honeymoon that i hope to one day go and play: Ceann Sibeal and Castlegregory. There are undoubtedly better, more illustrious courses in the area (Tralee, Ballybunnion etc) but they looked fabulous when we were travelling along the Dingle peninsula.

Started on links and then realised that I enjoyed visiting parkland courses more and more. I moved clubs to a parkland course and have never regretted it. I could never play a links course again and wouldn't miss it. Much prefer parkland for style of course, terrain, trees, plants, colour etc.

Tough call. All have their own charm. My course was originally heathland but thousands of trees planted in the 60's have made it almost Parkland which is fun in itself. I don't choose a favourite as they all have their positives (no negatives).

Luckily we don't have to choose :) Different challenges, different views, different shots needed - what's not to like!

But if you make me choose it would be links because you can play all year round in excellent conditions.

Played lovely parkland, links and heath courses. Not really got a favourite. All depends on the company, although the weather on the links can make a difference. If I had to play one type of course for the rest of my golf it would have to be heathland

Being a member of an inland course and a player of many links courses I have no preference. Both demand different styles of golf particularly in different weather conditions. Yesterday at Carnoustie it was windy so keeping the ball low was important as was playing short of greens and allowing for plenty of run out whereas last week at Rosemount you could attack soft greens with high wedges, but there was hardly any run on the fairways.

Links for me ,i was brought up getting my wee legs dragged around Carnoustie every weekend by my dad so thats when the love affair started, when we go on holiday its links that we play. But i love some Parkland courses as well very spoiled where i am in the likes of Alyth, Edzell and Forfar.

Given only one choice, it would be links for me, unfortunately I live as far away from the coasts as possible

I play on a moorland that plays pretty close to links in the summer and also a full course 12 months round.

Saying that, I could play Blairgowrie for the rest of my days and love every minute of it
