I'm a links dude. Love the way you have to think and plot your way round the links.

Yep, Links for me, it's golf at its very best. You need to be very inventive and have an ability to see ahead to play this type of golf well.

If I could only play one more round of golf it would have to be at a links course !

Although I love links my golf is more suited to inland courses. I'm not really one for keeping it low. I prefer the high flight and short stop golf which doesn't really lend itself too well to links.

If I had a choice, Links would win! Nearest links to me is nearly 2 hours, shame there aren't more inland courses that are undulating, less trees, crazy greens, killer gorse and wicked wind!

DO not have the skills necessary at the moment to appreciate links courses. My game also relies on putting the ball up high so would have a nightmare on a windy links course.

Links for me please!

Just enjoy the fact that one day a par 3 is 8 iron, next day it can be a driver, and the 7th where I play definitely comes into this category.
Tight (bare) lies, wind, gorse, undulations and no water, FAB.

i cant vote on this one as i have never played on a links course

Ditto.

Saving that pleasure up for when I can master knock down's and punch shots which seem to be vital from reading about links courses on here and elsewhere.

I particularly like links courses because although they are challenging, I find I have more shots to the green after slightly wayward drives. I hate trees too close to the edges of the rough, links have gorse and stuff, but with a decent lie, you can nearly always move forward....I hate going sideways!!!!

Not necessarily......I play my normal game on links, and would expect a links player to play his normal game around my course (parkland). If you've got a good feel for the wind and are not too macho to club up into strong winds, it's not so bad. I've broken 80 around aberdovey, borth, formby, heswall with a totaly normal game. If you want to absolutely master links, sure, a few specialist shots will help, but don't let tales put you off.

Links for me, as after such a wet winter all the inland courses are either closed or playing off fairway mats. Played a links course last weekend and came off with my shoes as dry as if I had just played on the living room carpet.

Links and inland for me, cant vote for both. I love them both for their very essence. I like parkland golf as you get more control round the greens, fairways are usually fair off the teebox and there are usually plenty of trees to tighten your game.
Links courses are different animals altogether, which is also why I love them too. The fact you cannot just unleash the driver and let it travel 300+ yards with generous bounces and roll outs, the fact you can't just hit the green with a 5 iron and expect it to stop dead, fairways that flash between bunkers, gorse and hedgelines. The lack of trees, bounty of sand and storm like conditions all add up to a real test of golf.
Either or, id take whatever I am given as I do not take my ability to be able to walk round a course and be competitive, for granted.

I shall bare that in mind RG. North Foreland that MWJ refers to is tantalisingly close to The Olds and I know that stretch of coast like the back of my hand . Joss Bay and The Digby Tap nearby have fetured on many a long walk round that neck of the woods. Maybe this will be the one to try in future, it's an Open qualifyer on occasion I believe (and therefore v. pricey)

well done on reaching the 1000 mark by the way,

bill
