I have lesson with my pro tonight, and I am unsure as to where focus? I am currently struggling off the tee with driver (alignment, and at times a violent fade/slice). However I am pretty good off the tee with with my 5 wood getting around 220 yards and generally in the short stuff.

For this reason I am unsure as to whether I should focus my lesson on driving and alignment (my alignment is fine with irons/fairway woods) as at my course there are 4 holes that are very long if you are not hitting a driver straight - also on my last round I lost 8 shots thanks to playing 3 off the tee 4 times! (which would have had me shooting 91)

So should I focus on driver technique and start work on remodelling my out to in swing which I believe is the reason for cut/fade/slice.

What you folks do in my shoes?

If you want to change an out to in swing, be prepared for a lot of hard work.
If you're not prepared to put in that work, TELL YOUR PRO at the start

I have 6 lessons already - I am happy with my swing with everything other than my driver I can play for my cut as I know how far I cut it, with my driver out-to-in seems to cause me now end of problems I have no idea if it is going to cut or slice. I also had a custom fitting last week, which revealed that I need stiff shats right through my setup. I wonder if the fact that I playing with regular shafts in my driver at the moment, is adding to the problem?

You're off 28, what you think is your issue might not be, hence the reason you are seeing a Professional with his 'trained' eye.....

Tell him what your problem is, he'll then watch and decide for himself and advise accordingly........

basically what I'm saying is put yourself is his expert hands and do what he says........the only caveat is if you don't understand anything he says then tell him until you do.

Good luck!

Ask your pro to explain the ball flight laws to you and give you an understanding of how alignment, clubface and swingpath all work together.

Ball flight Laws and Alignment, Club-face and swing-path info can be found out elsewhere - like on t'interweb!

I'd suggest you tell him pretty much exactly what you stated in the first post!

Then trust him - but ask questions if you don't understand something.

Tell him what you are looking to achieve and let him guide you. If you want a quick fix then one lesson will fix the most crucial fault but you still need to put the work in and work on the drills.

Had my lesson last night, we focused on driving and why I seem to throw everything I hit right, way right. We did a few drills with my 7 iron to start off with involving getting my body turning to lead the swing rather than relying on my arms and hands, he gave me towel that I had keep under my arms throughout my swing.

We then moved that technique over to the driver my swing speed dropped from 111mph to 95mph with this technique of trying to keep my arms connected to my body but according to flightscope I didn't loose that much yardage and and I had 0* right of spin which will do me :).

We then talked about releasing the club in the swing which will certainly restrict alot of my left to right ball flight, but at the moment, keeping my arms close to my body and releasing the club causes me to hook a few of my drives, but I am told I just need to learn how much I need to release as at the moment, I am rolling my bottom forearm a bit much.

All in all a very productive lesson.

good stuff:thup:

that's a great SS you have:thup:

The towel drill is often mis-used as it's about connecting the arms to the body to ensure connected rotation, the arms will separate though with the longer clubs and certainly with the driver. The drill is designed more for the short clubs.

I believe there is a 'harness' that you can use with the longer clubs to promote a similar connection.

now the easy bit.............practice practice practice
