I like many have gaps in my gap wedges  if i keep dropping loft to fill the yardage holes i'll just have a bag full of wedges ,

So my thoughts turn to lengthening the shafts in my current set, maybe only one , the 50, if it would work how much longer would i need to go for say another 15yds ?

TIA

And yes i could learn to use a longer club and hit it softer blah blah
just answer the Question above :D

The last club I would want to lengthen would be my wedges. Would lose a lot of feel and touch and be unwieldy.

I had a set of clubs which were 1 & 1/2 inch longer than standard. Mid irons were fine but long irons where far too long and short irons where comical. I couldn't get out of their way with my flat swing.

Too much imo.

They reckon an extra 2mph swing speed for an inch longer iirc, and at wedge type smash factors you probably need another 12mph, so it'd be about as long as a 3 iron

Yes PW (46) to gap 50, about 25-30yds between them

The answer is lessons, not longer wedges.

Depending on what iron model with what shaft you're playing a part of that distance gap may be equipment related, but there's very likely a problem with your technique as well.

I'm thinking the equipment could be the culprit. I'm not familiar with those irons, but if they're like many other modern 'distance' irons and have a springy face and ultra low CG, they could be firing out low spinning bombs. If the wedges are traditional in face and CG, they will go out a lot less far. It won't be enough just to add 4 degrees for a suitable gap.

Having a PW going out like an 8 iron might look good in the shop, but it's more expensive than you think!

I have this issue, though my problem is absolutely my swing. My PW (46) is about 20 yards on a good hit longer than my 50 and i have always had this issue.

Flippy flippy on wedges means i sky them. Well i did sky them, having recently learned how to take a divot and get through the ball

Do you get excessive height differences?

Funny I just got some sm6s and this time I got shafts to match my irons

My thinking is that with the same shafts and weight that the gaps should be tighten up a little more.

I got an extra 5 yds when I switched to an SM6 gap wedge. It seems the marketing about moving the weight around wasn't an "alternative fact" for a change.
