Leicester City owner's helicopter crashes just after picking him up

Watched the footage on the news last night, but was in a pub , so couldnt hear the full details.

Terrible news, no matter who was in the helicopter, thoughts with everyone connected.

Seems like if something goes amiss mechanically in a chopper you've little chance, unlike a plane which can glide at least, very sad event but thankfully it came down away from people on the ground, whether that was in part to the pilot's skills or not we'll likely never know, media often grab onto such theories for a small positive angle amongst the overall large negative but maybe the helicopter was just heading that direction anyway. Brought back memories of the Clutha pub crash in Glasgow a few years back. Tragic.

Though I could at best be described as a part time Leicester City fan (not been to a match since my student days in Leicester as have always been more of a Tigers fan), I could not help but get a bit of a lump in my throat listening to the comments on the radio this morning. This man was a shining example of what a club owner should be. He took the whole city to heart through his interaction with the fans and through is often unheralded donations to local hospitals that were in the millions of pounds. I think almost every club owner could learn a few lessons from how Vichai acted. He is a massive loss to not only the club but Leicester as a whole.

I was reading that there is a garden of remembrance at the King Power stadium and the owner always made sure that there was a bottle of whisky and glasses in there so that people could have a drink with their loved ones. I found that beautiful. If the Tigers had similar I would go there every match to have a drink with my dad. Such small touches mean so much.

Awful stuff...seems to have been a universally respected guy....plus the others on board. All very sad
Indeed. Seems to be a real sense of loss in Leicester but also in Thailand looking at the new reports. Perhaps fitting Mahrfez should open the scoring at Wembley tonight having grown so much as part of the PL winning side. Very sad though
