They are as safe as any mechanical engine machine - if it goes wrong then there is a possiblity of an issue - it does get more affected by changes in wind and if there is a loss of power then it’s going to hard to land it safely.Very sad news

I believe statically it's the most dangerous form of travel per ratio of journeys made.
Motorcycles are the most dangerous in regards to the deaths per 100.

How many of those are solo motorcycle accidents and how many of those involve other vehicles? Motorcycles aren't necessarily dangerous, car drivers that don't bother looking for them are.
