Chris Kirkland was attacked by a Leeds fan on the pitch at Hillbrough tonight. This coupled with some pretty abusive chanting from both sets of fans just shows how little respect there is in football these days. Bad times

Enough coverage to make sure he gets done. Probably a slap on the wrist and a ban which will prove unenforceable and he'll be lurking at grounds watching Leeds next season. Courts don't have the balls to impose proper sentences for proper crimes

It wasn't a 'stupid' thing to do. It was a really, really bad thing to do. Both for football and Leeds reputation
The stewards did look as if they were picking raisins out their arses though!*

Someone could get seriously hurt.
The authoritys in football are going to have to start giving out sentences that hurt people.
Whether its this thug,or racism as we have had recently.
Banning people for a long time taking them away from things they love is the only way.
Small fines are pointless imo

I'm from Leeds and have been ashamed of so called Leeds fans lot's of times in the past but this has sunk to a new low. Fighting among fans is one thing, still not acceptable but it happens and always will. Attacking a player is deplorable. The TV got a good look at this idiot so he'll be caught soon enough. I hope they throw away the key. On behalf of all Leeds people I apologise for this incident.

Having said that, with regard to what went on in the Summer, Football needs to take a long hard look at itself and put their own house in order. Racism, cheating, violence - not good enough.

I have to be honest though here, He did make a massive meal of it, no one likes to be pushed in the face, but he wasn't punched he was just pushed, he fell like a sack of spuds in typical football style and proceeded to attempt to win the Oscar for best roll about on the floor! What has happened to football players? I would have liked to see this hooligan try the same thing down at the Rhinos....He'd have got his ass whooped good and proper.

Did Dave Jones go overboard with his post match comments, i'm not sure he did. Considering the chants that were being aimed at him and his players it's hard to judge him on his words without actually being there. Plus he did say its not fair to tarnish them all with the same brush, but unfortunately thats what happens.

Also did it look good on Warnock telling his team to go and applaud the away fans at the end of the game, only for him to then at the end of the game say to interviewers its days like today with the chanting and assault on CK that makes him ashamed to be Leeds manager.

It's about time bans and sentences were imposed on the guilty parties and examples are made, only then will people take note of it. The relative miniscule fines that are given to clubs and players considering their revenues are a joke.

That's something that I think is despicable in footie today, the drama queen stuff. Why does football produce so many girls? Many real girls wouldn't react the way these guys do.
