Lazrus zero torque putters - any experience?

As per the title really.

Seen reviews on YouTube that claim similar performance to L.A.B putters but at a fraction of the price. I'm wondering if this is worth a punt or just YouTube marketing. I'm not bothered about tour players using the equipment, just any real world experience.

Borrowed a Taylormade zt from the proshop the other day and it felt "comfortable" with the zero torque benefit but don't currently like the £450 price tag (daft considering I play with a Scotty 5.5).

I haven’t seen anything about these ones in particular, but I know Wilson staff have released a couple of ZT putters for around £200. They have a good record of producing decent putters (I use the infinite Buckingham currently) and so if I was going to take a punt it would be on one of those.

However, it’s always going to be a punt isn’t it.

Personally, I think the whole Zero Torque thing is a marketing ploy. If you can't hold a putter tight enough to stop it swaying about in the backstroke or wobbling when it hits the ball, I do wonder how you can hold onto your driver when trying to launch the ball down the fairway

You're not supposed to hold it tightly though are you?

I saw the Lazrus ones, they look like a bit of a copy of the LAB Oz1. Personally I wouldn't be gambling on a name like that though, even if it is half the price. As Tim said above, something like Wilson is at least a recognised name so I'd maybe look there first. Or even a second-hand Odyssey, there are loads of the original run of Square 2 Squares on GolfClubs4Cash now for around £230. I'd definitely do that before paying 30 quid less on a 'Lazrus'.

I didn't say you need to hold it tightly. What I said was 'tight enough to stop it twisting' which is not very tight - even a baby could do it.

Probably not make a lot of difference

But we all like to think that we can get the magic wand that makes the game easier and manufacturers know that and design things that make us fall for the marketing - that is why I bought a new counter balanced TM Spider last year

I don't necessarily think Zero Torque is better than face-balanced and so on, but I do believe that each of us will putt better with the correct tool in our hands - i.e. the one that feels like the perfect weight, balance, etc. So it's worth trying everything to try and find the one that works the best.

My problem is I can't read a green to save my life, so it doesn't matter what putter I use, I'm generally aiming the wrong way.

A bullseye isn't a blade, it's a centre shafted putter.
And if you make the heel extension long enough it becomes a zero torque putter, by my understanding anyway.

Not sure I buy into whole Zero torque marketing and it being the amazing thing making people better putters. LAB have even come out in recent times stating their putters aren’t ZT but are “low” torque, there was even something I saw in a video with them stating their “revealer” tool while illustrative of low torque should have no impact on someone choosing low or ZT putters over other types, as ultimately what matters is the way someone holds it.

I’m a firm believer of there is no perfect style of putter for anyone, through trial and error we just find something we like and feel more comfortable with and that’s why we putt better and more confidently with it absolutely nothing to do with the “tech” or marketing. I’m contemplating going back to a blade putter not because I need one or am putting badly or it suits my stroke, I just like the cleanness of the look at address. Oh and how cool do you look when you roll one win from distance with a blade

a PP had a Temu version for £60 and he likes it, its given him more confidence and lets be fair with putting the more confidence you have the better!

I had a good look at the temu LAB copy and it looked ok, pretty decent manufacturing

I struggle to understand why it would be any worse than the LAB version, to be honest. If it's balanced the same then it's just a lump of metal on a stick to me

You can't show it off to your mates in quite the same way though.

Not to be argumentative but those who "don't see how it could make a difference" had a try of one? I used the Taylor made zt for about 90 minutes and it felt different, nothing major but different and more stable. I have used face balanced putters as well but this felt different.

I’ve tried the LAB, TM ZT and the PXG and I can say I don’t see how it would make a difference to me or any significant difference. Generally always been a pretty solid to good putter and I believe putting is a game of confidence and consistency bit about the putter used.

If you used one and felt it made a difference that’s all that matters.
