Laser Range finder recommendations

I want to get my mate a laser for his birthday, so ideally looking for a 2nd hand one in good condition, that would cost around £100+/-

Problem is I know nothing about lasers and what would be a good model for that price.

Does anyone have any recommendations on a model/brand to keep an eye out for and what to avoid!

Many will say the V3 is better with the "jolt" system when you focus on the pin but you don't really need it.
One on eBay for 120 quid. Sometimes they come cheaper.
Nikon made a decent one and there are some cheaper ones around but I don't have any experience of them..

I bought one of the cheaper ones on ebay, i've been impressed with it. compared it to a mates gps thingy and its reading the same. I ve not used an expensive one so cant compare, but never had trouble locking on to pins. It aint grabbing flags at 250+ but can hit bigger things at that range ie bunkers which lets be honest is what you would be using it for.

this is the one i bought, and mine also came with balls but not so many and cost £95.

There are ones on ebay with different names that look remarkably similar without balls but the guys above offered 30days if your not happy and 12months warranty. They have sold quite a few too.

its an option to consider anyway.

i got a v2 for about £100 on ebay.

I'd previously used one of the cheaper no-name ones for a couple of years, but it got wet and stopped working reliably.

I' had always been skeptical that the branded lasers would offer anything more, but having used it for a while I think it's worth the bit extra. It's feels more solid, has a brighter viewfinder and picks up the flag from slightly further out. I think that it's more waterproof too, but would need to check the manual. All in all, I'd recommend it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll keep an eye out for the v2 second hand. Think the coolshot is just a little out of reach, unless I can find a second hand one of them.
