Too many guns in circulation in America now to begin control.

Not really, limit the ammo, make it harder to buy additional guns, limit or ban access to Semi and Automatic guns. Let people have a hand gun, shot gun or single shot rifle. They don't need weapons designed for war. It is of course not easy to remove 300,000,000 guns in fact it is likely not possible but there are other avenues that can be followed.

Your reasoning is the American way, it can't be done so lets not bother. The reality is the NRA has made it impossible for there to be even discourse about some sort of gun control yet there are plenty of options to try if they really want to.

Just offer them a vicodin or a prozac in exchange for each gun handed in. Guns'll be off the streets in no time.

Unfortunately nothing will ever change, no matter how many more shootings happen. Gun culture is a way of life in the USA. I don’t know the figures, but you only have to watch American TV/films and it seems like there is a weapon of some sort in lots of them. They have been brainwashed into thinking that guns and gun ownership is perfectly acceptable.

One of the victims relatives said " he was an all American redneck, loved his guns and would turn in his grave at the thought of Americans not being able to bear arms". Bottom line is that even if you have had someone killed in these mass murders, some people still do not want to ban them.
In fact the sales of guns and share prices of gun companies actually rise after these atrocities.
