Las Vegas.

This is the 273rd mass shooting in the States THIS YEAR!!

When will they learn....... 😢

Unfortunately gun fire is so common in Vegas that eye witnesses tell of how many diners in a nearby bar just kept on eating !!

I am truly sorry to those and their families who have lost loved ones, but as a country I have little sympathy. No amount of immigration checks and flight bans will stop the home grown fanatic who is able to feed his madness with a means to kill freely.
This sort of thing will forever be repeated as they will never stop the populous from holding firearms, and they will never catch, or want to catch, all the home grown fanatics.

Alarm bells should have rang when he was amassing so much ammo.
Why does anyone need a machine gun?

very sad day but nothing will change.

Nothing changed after the shooting of school children so can't see it changing now.

I think it is too late for anything to change, or at least for a change to make a difference. Guns were easily available for so long, even if they would never sell another gun in the USA there would be problems for hundreds of years to come.

Sadly they seem oblivious to the obvious dangers the current gun laws pose and seem to ignore these mass killings after the usual media gorge of the facts with little secondary thoughts for the victims and their families left to try and repair their lives. The killings keep coming but no one seems capable of putting legislation in the way to stop it happening. Will only be a matter of time before the next one sadly.

Just been on the BBC, 4 X as many people have died this year in America through guns as US coalition soldiers have died in the last 16 years.

Taken from the BBC website:

The state of Nevada has some of the most permissive gun laws in the US. It is legal to carry an assault rifle and there is no magazine capacity limit.

There are no purchase permits and blue cards (gun registration) are no longer required.

There is no waiting period mandated for firearm purchases and private gun sales are OK.

Essentially anything goes in Nevada.
As FD has suggested, the guy had enough firepower to start a small war however did absolutely nothing illegal until he started shooting at people.

There's your answer; nobody knew how much ammo he was amassing because there are no checks in Nevada. I think we make it harder to buy paracetamol in the UK than it is to buy guns and ammunition in Nevada.

How the hell did he get what looks to be a machine gun into a 32nd floor hotel room? Not to mention the thousand or so rounds of ammunition and other assorted weapons!!!

What was the motive of the guy - 64 years old for God's sake.

How is it possible to get 19 rifles into a hotel !!!!?????

I'd suggest that if you checked into most Vegas hotels with a golf flight coverall none of them would check the contents and I reckon the right one would take 19 rifles.

RIP all the innocent life's lost.

It is a pity the usual suspects have to bring up Trump and the right in this, or Muslims or other groups when it caters to their narrative.

If somebody wants to cause mass death, they can through so many means, weather that is in a concert in Paris killing 120 people, a hotel balcony killing 59 or a lorry driving down the street of a festival killing 81.

Whilst I am sure it by no means unique, one of the tourist attractions Vegas offers is being able to go to some firing range with little to no prior experience and basically fire whatever you want, including machine guns. https://www.battlefieldvegas.com/pages/a-la-carte-landing-page

I've been there and to suggest that you just rock up, pick a weapon and fire indiscriminately is a very poor assumption.

You have a DS in each bay, you are shown everything about the weapon/s you have chosen, the area is very much locked down with a minimum (6) amount of individuals in it at any time. The place and similar ones also sell firearms, I have watched a sale out of interest, and on those occasions they were all to women buying small hand guns. They are asked for residency identification and are taken to the bays to try the weapons and are taught for a certain period as part of the sale how to handle and fire the weapon, so I think they all act very responsible IMO.

Many will say its the person not the gun/weapon that has killed all these, and many before them people in LV, and to some degree they are right. It's a tragic situation but there does need to be some reform regarding assault weapons.

Background checks and criminal past checks won't achieve anything as this atrocity has proved, he was a very well off individual, ex accountant with nothing much more than a parking ticket prior!

You have to get some balance or you drive it all underground into the black market, which would be worse, but something has to start and mainly with assault weapons and the number you can own.

Why does anybody need to own an automatic weapon?

The days of the Wild West are gone, it's time America got real and instigate some Gun control laws.

Problem is there are some 300 million guns in the USA, that's just mind boggling.
Thoughts to all those caught up in the Las Vegas atrocity

Thought exactly the same last night. It is 2017 not 1817. For me the reason they will not get rid of guns is down to the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It is to keep the English out.
At least that was the intend of the 2nd amendment at the time of writing. But while it is totally outdated these days nobody dares to amend it.

The whole bill of right is outdated and needs reviewing. Same as some British laws do. Probably any old countries old laws need looking at.
