Ladies Golf

Just unbelievable some of the comments on here - you should be ashamed of yourselves. So unless you're good at something you shouldn't take part?? Who the hell gives you the right to judge?!

Un flipping believable - get a check on yourselves.

Yip, another classic gm forum thread.

I'm fizzing now! So today I was due to play with one of our older Ladies. She has been unwell and has some injuries so can't play at the moment. She has felt isolated without her golf - which isn't uncommon. So I was going to play and she was bringing a putter so she could walk, chat, enjoy the exercise and company plus do a little putting as we went round. As it turns out the weather isn't great and with her health issues we have postponed.

So Hendy and co...what do you suggest we do - ban her and her type??

I'll say it again - unbelievable and such a poor show of humanity.

Seriously, a thread having a pop at a section of golfer!?! How very, very sad. I don't care about your gender nor your ability. I do hope you have a great day playing this wonderful game.

I wasn't intending to have a pop at anybody. It's just that I was expecting a higher standard of play for an open competition with many visiting lady golfers. To be fair many of them were middle-aged or elderly, but there were some younger and/or obviously competent ones. One had such a weird swing that I was surprised that she could even make contact with the ball at all!🙂

It was an Open so a way of playing another course cheap. It wasn't THE OPEN!

You really aren't helping yourself. Sexist and elitist and definitely not a view I share

In answer to the OP, unless its a prestigious open, most mid week ladies opens are played by ladies who are retired and so the standard is very varied.
I used to think that I hit a pretty long ball until I started playing with better players when I found myself constantly out driven.

Was there ballot on the handicaps at scratch if you expect a higher standard??

After just reading several pages about drug use for therapeutic use in sport I'm wondering if it should be introduced on the forum

Yeah I play off 24 after being given my first handicap of 28 last year. Should I then not be allowed to play because to be honest I have some par 4's that I know I am not going to hit in 2. I love golf and I don't want to stop just because I'm a bit crap! why should women have to stop doing something they love just because they ain't going to be hitting under 100? I played with a lady golfer recently,hc32, whose drive went about 140. but my god she hit it straight, and she loves golf! why shouldn't she play?

shaking my head at some of the comments here...

There's some thoughts on here that you shouldn't even be allowed on a full course if your handicap is over 18:rolleyes:

Prove me wrong. ;) It's a bit like the Brexit/Racist argument. Not all elderly male golfers are mysoginistic by any stretch of the imagination, but chances are the ones that make misogynistic statements either through deliberate intent or ignorant stupidity are elderly and male.

What a disgraceful thread and some of the comments are beyond the pale

the proffessionally offended are out in force today.

c`mon people ,we all know that Delc wasnt having a pop at ladies golf ,to me he is just saying that he was more than a little shocked at the standard of play on show on a particular hole he was ball spotting on .
nowhere in his past topics has he slated women golfers ,[well none that i have ever seen] and all of a sudden he is the antichrist.
who needs to get a grip?
