Ladies Golf - Ladies US Open

It does get such poor coverage, i'm surprised Sky haven't got a dedicated golf channel yet, they have a dedicated F1 channel and if i'm not mistaken one of the sky sports channles is is becoming sky ashes when the ashes starts.

They could just show all the golf on it from all the tours, i'm sure plenty of people would watch it.

Wouldn't be holding my breath waiting for a dedicated golf channel... In fact the opposite with the European tour only getting highlights coverage as is the case already with ladies events...

I have to say that i really enjoyed watching the woman's golf. was a refreshing change from the target golf that the PGA tour is every week. Yeah some of the players do lack personality but at least you got to see a bit of every player out there on the course, instead of just the last two groups.

I watched a bit of it last night and it got me thinking.....

Can anyone on here without the aid of Google name me the top 3 in the Ladies World Rankings?

I certainly couldn't........

We have a lady on the brink of completing a 3rd of the 5 Majors needed for the 'Grand Slam' yet there is nothing in the press about this over here.

Why is Ladies Golf's stock so low?

Bet you could if you were a South Korean golfer or if the top three were British. I couldn't tell you 100% who top three men are - I'll guess - TW, RM, LD

Is probably because the tournament was already finished half way through the last round!

Really enjoyed watching the event as it happened more than the PGA tour bomb fest. Was nice to see how the strategy was put into play rather than just overpowering the course.

Also enjoyed watching the swings and seeing the different tempos on display compared to the likes on PGA tour where it just seems to be hit it hard. Think I could learn more from watching the womens game than the mens, going to Sky+ a few events when there on to watch more. Even HID enjoyed watching it!

Just checked and not too bad - was debating LD or JR in 3rd and plumped for LD - however given JRs recent success I guess it's obvious he'd be above Luke.

hell of a good question & i had no idea as to the answer to it anyhow Alan , out of curiosity i wonder do our lady forum members watch much ladies golf ? do they even show much ladies golf .. i would have thought the lpga is dominated by the asian contingent... ..

Hardly ever watch it to be honest as the coverage is so poor especially when it's highlights. Disjointed and rubbish commentary. Might have watched more of the US Open but it's chicken and egg as I don't "know" the players so have no sense of being involved and rooting for one or the other nor how well they're playing relative to ability and expectation. I do enjoy watching the different swings and was amazed how slow and deliberate some of the backswings are - made me wonder if I'm missing something as the ball don't get hit on the backswing!

My coach has a player on the Euro Tour so if she's doing well I'll watch the highlights but again it's hard to watch such poor coverage.

No ive watched all 4 rounds this week and found it was the same in each round. They were just showing golf no matter if the player was over or under par, Making sure that people watching saw golf instead of walking, like you do in the mens golf. And even when they went to show someone, and they were taking to long to play their shot, they switched to another part of the course.

I think sky should show a few more than just the major events. Its refreshing to see pros playing shots instead of just hitting driver off every tee, then trying to wedge it close. It seems the women know how to think their way around a course more.

Quite - we're never going to get to know the top lady golfers if we only see them a few times a year and even then the coverage continuously flits from one player to another. Coverage assumption is that we just want to see golf shots and not learn anything much about the players. maybe OK in the mens game when we can watch them week-in week-out anda so do get to know them. But with ladies same doesn't apply.

Yeah i know where your coming from but if you think about it sky is just taking the golf channels coverage, so they do get to know the players week in and week out. Sky are never going to pick up and make a golf channel of their own so we are never going to get to see all the coverage just the big events.

Its just nice to get to see some of the game from a different point of view. I normally watch the PGA tour every night its on, every week. But this week ive only seen 15 mins of the PGA tour. The women play different courses and put a premium on shot making that some times just gets lost on the PGA tour.

If there was more coverage week to week of the women's game and we could get to know them better i think it would make for great viewing. I know Inbee Park if dominating the game at the moment but there are a few more players around that could have a run at her.

I liked the look of I.K. Kims game, such a nice swing.
