Hurt my knee really badly a couple of days ago. It didn't suddenly go but I felt a twinge getting up off the sofa and the pain then grew over a minute or so to the point I couldn't put any weight on it. Been giving it plent of RICE which has helped a bit but its still very painful today, I can't lift my leg properly without pain and walking is still uncomfortable. The pain is concentrated to the inside of the knee cap and down over the bottom of the knee joint, strangely though there is no noticable swelling. Off to the docs later today but I'm worried this is something quite serious. Anyone done anything similar and what was the outcome?

Sounds like a MCL injury, Medial Collateral Ligament. I had a tear in mine back in 2013 and it took a while to get back to normal. Needs rest and time to heal.

Hope you get sorted.

You first kneed to find out the cause before you can consider the remedy.

My left knee hurts me all the time to some degree but the docs cannot put a specific cause but unlike you I can pinpoint exactly when it started, going for a big on the 17th tee.

I had a similar problem, painful even at rest, a MRI scan showed i have a medial meniscus tear [ the cartilage on the inner side of the joint ].
I'm on the waiting list for keyhole surgery, but it seems to be getting better by itself, I wear an elastic support and now have virtually no pain except for the odd twinge.
best of luck .
